LA Community Colleges Ban Guns, Make Decision To Be "Gun Free Zones"

(Unfortunately, why do they think that many school shooters pick schools to shoot at? Because they are known to be "gun free zones")

The Los Angeles Community College District's nine campuses will be gun-free zones, according to a resolution passed this week by the Board of Trustees that bans weapons in almost all circumstances.

"It is our responsibility to provide a safe environment for our students, allowing them to feel secure and able to totally focus on their academic goals," said board Vice President Scott Svonkin, who sponsored the resolution. "They must never be fearful about setting foot on one of our campuses."

The move follows a June shooting rampage at and around Santa Monica College in which five people died.

The suspected gunman, John Zawahri, 23, is believed to have killed his father and older brother at their Yorkshire Avenue home before setting the house on fire. He then carjacked a motorist and forced her at gunpoint to drive him to Santa Monica College, along the way firing at several vehicles and killing a campus groundskeeper and his daughter.

After entering the campus, Zawahri shot and killed another woman before he was fatally wounded by police in the school library.

The shooting renewed debate that had begun after the 2007 shootings at Virginia Tech University over whether to allow guns on college campuses.

Twenty-two states ban the carrying of a concealed weapon on a college campus, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. Many other states allow colleges and universities to make individual decisions.

In 2013, at least 19 states introduced legislation to allow concealed carrying in some instances, while a handful of others have attempted to bar weapons, according to the legislative group.

A desperate mother dressed head-to-toe in Islamic dress and hid her face behind a veil to carry out a daring mission to snatch her daughter back from the child's Egyptian father.

Alex Abou-El-Ella, 29, of Slough, Berkshire, risked everything to rescue her daughter Mona, three, two years after her husband spirited the girl out of Britain and took her to his home country.

She ignored Foreign Office warnings not to travel to the country, which is gripped by civil unrest, tracked down the child and disguised herself as a local to carry out the audacious rescue

Her success was in large part thanks to the help of British author Donya Al-Nahi, who has been nicknamed Jane Bond for her efforts in helping a string of women rescue children snatched by Arab fathers.

Mrs Abou-El-Ella, who is still married to Mona's father, Mustafa, told the Sunday People of the dramatic moment she snatched back her daughter in the Nile Delta city of Kafr el-Dawwar.

With the help of Scot-born Mrs Al-Nahi she had tracked down the nursery where Mona was enrolled and the block of flats where she was living with her father's family.

The pair, who had enlisted a trusted driver, sat staking out the block early in the morning until Mona appeared with an aunt and a boy just before 9am.

That's when the desperate mother seized her moment. Moving awkwardly in the unfamiliar Islamic dress in which she had disguised her self, she got out of the car and followed them.

'I was walking behind them, faster and faster, and saw Mona's hand a few metres away from me,' she said. 'So I grabbed her, pulled her into my arms and the lady looked at my face – but all she could see were my eyes.'

Liberal gasbag Alec Baldwin will soon have a new forum to vent his rage — a weekly prime-time show on the left-leaning cable network MSNBC, according to a new report.

The Web site Mediaite said yesterday it learned from a highly placed source in the cable-news industry that the volatile actor's so-far untitled show will air on Fridays at 10 p.m. and "feature a large dose of Baldwin's outspoken liberal politics."

The new job would be the latest gig in the former "30 Rock" star's long association with the NBC network.

He's been a frequent guest host on "Saturday Night Live," and also hosted the NBC's Live Earth concert in 2007.

Emergency workers and community members in eastern Missouri are not sure what to make of a mystery priest who showed up at a critical accident scene Sunday morning and whose prayer seemed to change life-threatening events for the positive.

Even odder, the black-garbed priest does not appear in any of the nearly 70 photos of the scene of the accident in which a 19-year-old girl almost died. No one knows the priest and he vanished without a word, said Raymond Reed, fire chief of New London, Mo.

"I think it's a miracle," Reed said. "I would say whether it was an angel that was sent to us in the form of a priest or a priest that became our angel, I don't know. Either way, I'm good with it."

Carla Churchill Lentz, mother of the teen who was critically injured, said emergency workers have told her there is no way her daughter should have lived inside such a mangled car. Of the priest, she said, "I do believe he certainly could have been an angel dressed in priest's attire because the Bible tells us there are angels among us."

The scene unfolded Sunday morning. Katie Lentz, a sophomore at Tulane University, was driving from her parents' home in Quincy, Ill., to Jefferson City, Mo., where she has a summer internship and planned to attend church with friends. The Mercedes she was driving collided with another vehicle on a highway near Center, Mo. The accident crushed Lentz's vehicle into a ball of sheet metal that lay on the driver's side, Reed said.

President Barack Obama may not be everything his fans originally hoped he would be, but until recently he's at least appeared easy enough to get along with.

Maybe the frustrations of office are getting to him. These days, he seems to be having just as difficult a time finding friends among foreign leaders and allies as he does with Republicans in Congress.

Even before he cancelled an upcoming summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Mr. Obama found himself bickering with leaders with whom he'd prefer to be on good terms. The U.S. sends Egypt more than $1 billion a year in military aid and worked closely with former president Hosni Mubarak, but on the weekend the de facto military ruler of Egypt — how's that for a title? Julius Caesar could have claimed the same one — accused Washington of abandoning the country.

"You left the Egyptians, you turned your back on the Egyptians, and they won't forget that," said Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

OK, Putin can be a pain, and Egyptians are more than a little volatile these days. But Mr. Obama can't even get along with Canada, which is like getting into an argument with Norway over a chicken recipe. For months the governments in Ottawa and Alberta have been sending representatives to sweet-talk Washington heavyweights on the merits of the Keystone XL pipeline, which would send Alberta crude to the Gulf Coast. There may be valid arguments against the pipeline — though Mr. Obama's own State Department has shot down most of them — but the negotiations had been friendly and respectful enough until Mr. Obama gave an interview to the New York Times openly mocking the jobs figures put forward by proponents.

A raging wildfire that spread rapidly in Southern California mountain foothill communities was scorching more rugged terrain Thursday, and the reported number of homes destroyed was expected to increase.

Four firefighters and one resident had been injured by the Silver Fire, which prompted evacuations in several communities as it raced through nearly 16 square miles between Banning and Idyllwild in less than 24 hours. [...]

At an afternoon news conference, Sen. Barbara Boxer emphasized the growth of wildfires this year in California, in part blaming climate change.

"Open your eyes, breathe the air and see what's going on," she said, addressing climate-change deniers.

She said the smoke at her home in Riverside County's Rancho Mirage was "so thick" that she thought there was a fire in community.

Boxer also warned that federal spending cuts would mean fewer firefighters, saying that sequester-induced spending reductions would be "disastrous."

DOJ Charges Five Hackers in Data Breach Scheme

Federal prosecutors unsealed criminal charges against a group of hackers who allegedly breached the computer systems of more than a dozen companies including Nasdaq OMX Group Inc. ( NDAQ ), J.C. Penney Co. ( JCP ) and Carrefour S.A. (CRRFY, CA.FR), to steal personal data and, in some cases, credit-card information, resulting in the loss of "hundreds of millions of dollars."

Federal prosecutors in New Jersey, who made the charges public on Thursday, called the case the largest hacking and data breach scheme ever prosecuted in the U.S. In terms of the number of hacks and the amount of funds taken. The investigation is ongoing, they said.

The hackers allegedly stole more than 160 million credit- and debit-card numbers from retailers, credit-card companies and payment processors, as well as personal or login information from a variety of companies. More than $300 million was stolen from just three of the affected companies, according to the indictment.

Five men from the former Soviet Union--four from Russia and one from the Ukraine--have been charged as part of the alleged scheme, which began in 2005 and ran through last summer, prosecutors said. Two of them were arrested at the request of the U.S. Government while they were traveling in the Netherlands, while the other three are considered fugitives.

Cybercrime has been a growing concern for prosecutors in the U.S. And around the world in the past few years as hacking groups have become more brazen in their infiltrations of government websites and secure financial systems. Hacking groups have been successful in carting away millions of dollars in just a matter of hours with little more than a computer and a handful of stolen card numbers.

"This type of crime is the cutting edge," said Paul Fishman, the U.S. Attorney in New Jersey. "Those who have the expertise and the inclination to break into our computer networks threaten our economic well-being, our privacy, and our national security. And this case shows there is a real practical cost because these types of frauds increase the costs of doing business for every American consumer, every day."

According to the New Jersey indictment, members of the conspiracy "scouted" potential victims, including visiting retail stores in 2007 and in 2008 in order to identify their payment processing systems. In other cases, the indictment alleges, the hackers installed software on the corporate computer systems so that they could create "back doors' giving them access to the systems at a later date.

Who Is Valerie Jarrett & Is She The One That Gave The "Stand Down" Order In Benghazi?

Valerie Jarret is Obama's top advisor and for the most part, that is all the majority of people know about her at all. Now we are going to show you what many have asked, and we will show you just who Valerie Jarrett really is, where she came from, what her alliances are, what her background is, what she thinks and most of all, what type of individual she really is. Once we lay out who she is, we must ask ourselves if Valerie Jarrett is the one that gave the 'stand down' order to those who were in Benghazi to help and rescue Americans under attack as Barack Obama slept.

To begin with, Valerie Jarrett was born in 1956 in Shiraz, Iran, where her father worked as a doctor at a children's hospital. When she was 5, her family moved to London for just 1 year then to the "elite" Hyde Park of Chicago, which was considered to be one of the better neighborhoods. It is also the very same place that Louis Farrakhan, Bill Ayers, and of course Barack Obama lived. However, this is of little concern as to where Valerie Jarrett got her political influence.

A man named, Robert Taylor, was Jarrett's maternal grandfather and her political background could be established with him, but in the 1940′s Communism was frowned upon and Mr. Taylor was involved in such Communist fronts as the American Peace Mobilization and the Chicago Civil Liberties Committee. Now another person whom, was also a member of these groups and was a "mentor" for Barack Obama was the Communist journalist, none other than Frank Marshall Davis. Now here we can show a direct link to Communist influences to both Barack Obama and Valerie Jarrett both of who had very close associations with Communist Party members. It was Jarrett's mother Barbara Taylor Bowman who co-founded the Chicago-based graduate school in child development known as the Erikson Institute, which was named after Erik Erikson a notable psychoanalyst. In 1950 Erikson became a hero to the left by choosing to resign from his professorship at the University of California rather than sign an anti-communist loyalty oath as the school required. Indicative of the Erikson Institute's radical political orientation is the fact that its board of trustees has included, in addition to Bowman, such figures as Tom Ayers (father of the former Weather Underground terrorist and lifelong Marxist Bill Ayers) and Bernardine Dohrn (longtime wife of Bill Ayers). Bill Ayers, for his part, called Bowman "a neighbor and friend" in his 1997 book A Kind and Just Parent, noting that his neighbors also included Louis Farrakhan and "writer Barack Obama."

Here we can see the many types of association that may well have influenced Valerie Jarrett. One can also see the influence of Communism, of which her family seemed to be involved. Jarrett's family also had direct links to Frank Marshal Davis, a mentor for Barack Obama who was on the FBI watch list due to his aggressive background in Communism. Her affiliation with Communism did not stop there because it seems that the man she married also had a family deeply rooted in the Communist ideology.

"In 1983 she married Dr. William Robert Jarrett, son of the Chicago Sun-Times reporter Vernon Jarrett. Vernon Jarrett was a pioneering black journalist who in the 1940s wrote columns for the communist-influenced Chicago Defender extolling Communist poet Langston Hughes and lifelong Stalinists W.E.B. DuBois and Paul Robeson. Also in the 1940s, Mr. Jarrett was a leader of the Chicago chapter of American Youth for Democracy—youth wing of the Communist Party USA. He also served on a publicity committee for the Packinghouse Workers Union, a Chicago-based entity dominated by the CPUSA. In each of these endeavors, Mr. Jarrett had close contact with Frank Marshall Davis."
With all the Communist influence in her background, it could be easily stated that she was a type of "closet" Communist, since she has really not come directly out front and made that statement. However, just like Obama, her background is heavily influenced with Communist type. There are deep-rooted problems with Valerie Jarrett and her family that seem to have some sort of communist ideology, either linked directly to them or they are a part of it. We need only go to Discover the Networks to find the links and her base of thought when it comes to where she may have obtained the ideologies she now seems to be using.

Here we can see that Valerie Jarrett became a close friend and confidant of the Obamas even before they got married. It has to be noted that Valerie Jarrett also had close ties with people that some found to be a bit too much. In particular, we mean one of the strongest Communists to ever be placed into a position by any president. The name of the individual is none other than Van Jones. It was due to the influence of Valerie Jarrett that Van Jones got the job of "Green Jobs Czar". She then gushed about Jones at the Netroots Nation conference saying:

"We were so delighted to be able to recruit him [Van Jones] into the White House. We were watching him...for as long as he's been active out in Oakland. And all the creative ideas he has. And so now, we have captured that, and we have all that energy in the White House."

Valerie Jarrett was also instrumental in obtaining and creating new jobs for Obama's friends, as well as hers. It was early in 2009 when she lobbied Obama to create the office of Chief Diversity Officer within the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), a position filled soon thereafter by Mark Lloyd, an Alinskyite and a former senior fellow at the Center for American Progress

However, Valerie Jarrett made it clear that only two people could get Barack Obama to do what they wanted him to do and both of those people have deep backgrounds in the Communist party through their families. Valerie Jarrett herself and Michelle Obama, whose parents were also involved with the Communist Party or linked to them, are those two people.

Chicago parking lot entrepreneur Martin Nesbitt claims that Jarrett establishes both Michelle and Barack Obama's "whole notion of authenticity." According to Nesbitt, Jarrett is like a little inner voice that tells them, for instance: "That's not you. You wouldn't say that. Somebody else is saying that. Barack Obama wouldn't say that." Jarrett told Vogue magazine, "I kind of know what makes them [the Obamas] who they are.

But this is only a small part of just how much influence Valerie Jarrett has upon the Obama's and she is very quick to say that. Below are just a few examples of the influence that Valerie Jarrett holds over the Obama's.

"After Obama's inauguration in January 2009, Jarrett successfully pushed to loosen restrictions barring government officials from meeting with lobbyists, a rule enshrined in Obama's executive memo on the Recovery Act, for fear that other "legitimate" concerns – raised by "civil rights organizations whose directors happen to be registered lobbyists – will not be heard."
Jarrett also helped recruit Obama's Regulatory Czar, Cass Sunstein, who supports the Fairness Doctrine, has argued that Americans should "celebrate tax day," and believes that animals should have legal standing to sue humans.

In his 2012 book, Leading From Behind, author Richard Miniter reveals that Jarrett, prior to the May 2011 U.S. killing of Osama bin Laden, had repeatedly urged President Obama not to take out the al Qaeda leader, prompting Obama to cancel the mission on three separate occasions.

In July 2009, Obama told
New York Times reporter Robert Draper, "I trust her completely ... She is family." Obama trusts Jarrett "to speak for me, particularly when we're dealing with delicate issues." When asked, the President admitted that he runs every decision by her.
"We have kind of a mind meld," Jarrett said of herself and Obama. "And chances are, what he wants to do is what I'd want to do."

In October 2012 it was revealed that for several months, Jarrett, who had no experience in international negotiations, had been leading secret negotiations with representatives of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, in an effort to develop normalized relations between the U.S. and Iran.

Now we can see the type of person Valerie Jarrett is and the kind of influence she has upon the Obama's and with some making statements that Valerie Jarrett may have been the person that gave the "Stand Down" order to the people that could have saved the 4 men in Benghazi while Obama went to sleep, or whatever he did. Valerie Jarrett does have that type of power, and knowing her background would make it seem that maybe Obama just does not have an agenda, but follows what Valerie Jarrett tells him to do blindly since he has no other idea.

Should our nation be under this type of 'blind" power, or should we be a nation of "free" people?

Majorities of Americans think the new health care law is going to increase their medical costs and their taxes — and add to the federal deficit as well. Those are some of the reasons why voters say — by a two-to-one margin — that Congress should keep working on the law.

A Fox News national poll released Thursday also asks voters about how they think Obamacare is being carried out: 31 percent say "it's going fine," yet a 57-percent majority feels "it's a joke."
Republicans are more than three times as likely to say it's a joke (87 percent vs. 25 percent). Still, a quarter of Democrats agree.

Nine times as many Democrats as Republicans say implementation of Obamacare is going fine (63 percent vs. 7 percent).
