Report: Egyptian Girl Kills Herself Rather Than Face Violence From Family Forcing Her To Wear Hijab

A 15-year old Egyptian girl who rejected her family's pressures to wear the Islamic headscarf, known as the hijab, shot herself to death using her father's hand gun, Egyptian media reported.

The girl, identified only as Amira , was subjected to "violence" by her family after she removed her hijab.

Preferring death to living under violence, Amira reportedly "sneaked" into her father's room, took his gun and opened fire on herself, an investigation found, according to Youm7.

The girl's suicide, which took place last week in an area of the Giza province, was reported by the popular Egyptian news website Youm7.

Wearing a shirt with the image of her son in a hoodie, Sybrina Fulton, warned a crowd at a pre-rally at the National Action Nework in Harlem: "It was my son [that night.] It might be yours tomorrow."

She vowed to fight for children and victims of gun violence.

It's been a week since a Florida jury acquitted George Zimmerman of murder and manslaughter charges. He shot Martin daid on February 26, 2012, while on neighborhood watch patrol.

Demo-rat Cowboy Congresswoman Frederica Wilson delivered one of the most racially divisive speeches I may have ever heard. The setting was the National Action Network's Miami rally this weekend that aimed at pressuring the Department of Justice to press civil rights charges against George Zimmerman. Unfortunately, because of the poor audio quality, crowd noise, and Wilson's constant movements away from the microphone, much of the speech was inaudible.

Some of the controversial statements that Wilson made did however record clearly:

Britain is one of the most racially tolerant countries on the planet, a survey claims.

The global social attitudes study claims that the most racially intolerant populations are all in the developing world, with Jordan and India in the top five.

By contrast, the study of 80 countries over three decades found Western countries were most accepting of other cultures with Britain, the U.S., Canada and Australia more tolerant than anywhere else.

The data came from the World Value Survey, which measured the social attitudes of people in different countries, as reported by the Washington Post.

The survey asked individuals what types of people they would refuse to live next to, and counted how many chose the option 'people of a different race' as a percentage for each country.

Researchers have suggested that societies where more people do not want neighbours from other races can be considered less racially tolerant.

The secret intelligence court that signs off on giving the U.S. government the authority to monitor hundreds of millions of telephone records has renewed the government's request to do so for another three months.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence announced Friday its authority to maintain the program expired on July 19 and that the government had sought and received a renewal from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act court.

National Intelligence Director James Clapper announced the new order.

City Councilman Lew Fidler (D-Brooklyn), who has endorsed former city Comptroller Bill Thompson's mayoral bid, called on rival candidate Weiner to return the $4,950 donation to lobbyist John Merrigan.

"Al Jazeera and its lobbyists are no friends to New York City or our Jewish community, and Anthony shouldn't accept their support," Fidler said. "They have spread hate and lies against Jews, not only here in New York but across the world. The right thing to do is to give this money back. Anthony should do exactly that."

Woman Scams Almost Half Million By Claiming
To Be Boston Bombing Victim

BOSTON — An upstate New York woman used fake hospital records to pose as a Boston Marathon bombing victim with a brain injury and collected nearly half a million dollars from the fund for victims, authorities said yesterday.

Audrea ["Creepy Ass Scammer"] Gause, 26, of Troy, was arrested there yesterday on a Massachusetts fugitive warrant charging her with larceny, Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley said.

Gause submitted a claim to the fund last month, including several pages of false medical records indicating she was treated at hospitals in Boston and New York for a traumatic brain injury suffered in the bombings, Coakley said.

She received a $480,000 check from the fund, created to help victims of the April 15 attacks, which killed three people and wounded more than 260.

Coakley said investigators are making every effort to take back the money given to Gause.

FOUR DEAD, NINE WOUNDED After Chicago Trayvon Rally

Hundreds attended the 'Justice for Trayvon Martin' rally yesterday in Chicago.

Meanwhile, a six year-old girl was shot Friday while at a memorial for a loved one gunned down five years ago.

And at least four people were killed and nine wounded in Chicago shootings on Saturday night.

Chicago Tribune reported:

Shootings left at least four men dead and 9 other people wounded across the Saturday night and Sunday morning.

The violence was largely confined to the South and West Sides and three of the incidents had more than one victim, according to authorities.

The most recent shooting happened in the Cabrini Green neighborhood – just north of Chicago Avenue on Cambridge Avenue. Two men, one 25 and the other either 23 or 24, were shot and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The older of the two was dropped off there and died of his wounds, and the other was taken there in an ambulance with a wound to the leg.

Someone shot up a birthday party in the Altgeld Gardens housing complex about 1:50 a.m., hitting four people. One, a 28-year-old man, died at the scene. Two others were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center: a 40-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman. A 22-year-old man was dropped off at Metro South Medical Center in Blue Island and is in stable condition. The man and woman at Christ hospital are both in serious condition, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office refused to release the name of the dead man.
