Warph, your revelations in this thread are truly a testament to the ignorance of the American sheeple.  They are truly getting the government that they deserve.

Progressives (a moniker born out of the socialist movement in America) have been methodically eroding the principles espoused in The Declaration of Independence since the early 1900s.  Their platforms of bigger government, 'central planning' & the socialist collective have permeated our systems of education, media, lawmaking & business regulation.

Moreover, by means of methodical & incremental indoctrination, the progressive platform has been foisted on generations of young people inside a government centered public education system.  This effort has produced an ever increasing number of Americans who are actually shortsighted enough to believe that assuming a label of 'moderate' somehow is a good thing.  Fools.  Even Jesus himself said He preferred hot or cold to lukewarm.  It is the prevalence of these moderate thinkers (thinkers being a tongue in cheek use of the word) that has resulted in a society that so highly values government promises of safety & security that they have facilitated the drastic erosion of individual sovereignty over the last century.

in addition, the numbers of self centered citizens who have been dumbed down by well meaning educators regarding the dramatic difference represented by the American Republic among forms of governance have swelled into the millions.  Many (if not most) of these folks couldn't be bothered to remain informed about politically centered events let alone get off their duffs to go and vote intelligently on occasion.

Therefore, between the determined progressive idealists, the mushy moderate fools & the uninformed masses of easily led sheeple, this country is now  run by a self indulgent class of power brokers (from the likes of Obama to our very own Liebau/Hendricks duo) who appear totally ignorant of the fact that their Marxist ideals & crony capitalism have historically failed to produce progress or widespread prosperity in every society where attempted.

America, for many generations, was exceptional.  An example to be envied.  A nation that produced greater prosperity, provided disproportionate charity & pulled the butts of more of its' neighbors out of the fires of tyranny than any other in history.  No longer!  We are in rapid decline.  Great societies can and do fall.  America is no exception.  Now content to acquiesce to the whims of foolish 'leaders', America by and large has squandered her inheritance.  And it isn't only seen in the big cities like Detroit, Los Angeles, or Chicago... it can be seen in even the smallest of communities like Elk County, Kansas.  It can be seen by anyone who cares to look.  The locally corrupting influences of The Progressive Movement (and of those who sit idle) are clearly seen.  As America, even our own little county, once prosperous, is in decline.

Keep posting, Warph, we need to see the results of our folly as progressive or moderate or uninvolved citizens.  This nation is getting the government it deserves.  Any experiment, when tainted ingredients are introduced, is destined to fail.  The great American experiment of a representative republic is no exception.

It's just like that voting for taking the school districts of West Elk from 6 voting districts down to 3.
It adds to that idea idea of centrally located and unified government.

I think the voters got snookered on that one.   Keep an eye on those unnecessary construction plans in the Long Term Construction/Educational Plan for a declining population. Especially since the building is designed for 600 students and they only have 300 students.

I think they have plans to jack up your property taxes the maximum allowed by law of 4 mills with out your vote.

They say money talks but mine seems to only wave bye-bye. Do we need more local taxing while the national economy continues to decline along with the local population? Are you going to continue to listen to their false reasons to construct?

Are we to believe that teaching the basic's of ~ reading, writing and arithmetic is less important than it was when we were in school?

It has already reached the point where kids don't know how to sign their names in cursive ~ the basic's.

While hundreds of thousands of civilian employees and their families deal with the harsh realities of being furloughed due to sequestration, the Defense Department is pouring millions of dollars into the protection of gophers and butterflies, Fox News reports.

The Defense Department recently awarded a $3.5 million grant to Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state to buy the 2,600 acres of prairie land surrounding it.


The move is part of an attempt to protect the Mazama pocket gopher, a species that is not considered either endangered or threatened.

As can be expected, the price tag has left those who have been furloughed angry and confused.

"That really makes me mad that they would do that," said Matt Hines, a civilian employee forced to take a 20 percent pay cut.

"I'm all for saving animals, but Gophers???... at what cost?"

(AFP) — The head of Nigeria's Boko Haram Islamists said he supported a July 6 attack on a school that killed 42 people, but did not claim responsibility for the massacre, in a video obtained by AFP on Saturday.

"We fully support the attack on this Western education school in Mamudo," in northern Yobe state, Abubakar Shekau said in the 10-minute video message.

The video was delivered to AFP in a manner consistent with previous statements from the Islamist leader, who has been declared a global terrorist by the United States.

The early morning gun and bomb attack at a boarding school in the Mamudo district of Yobe saw assailants round up students and staff in a dormitory before throwing explosives inside and opening fire, according to witnesses.

Most of those killed were students.

In the video, Shekau described all "Western education schools" as a "plot against Islam".

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and outgoing FBI Director Robert Mueller took out-of-town trips in fiscal year 2011 at costs totalling just over $2.5 million, according to disclosures released to Bloomberg News.

Holder's trips totalled $1.45 million, while Mueller's totalled another $1.25 million. Both officials, Bloomberg reports, are considered "required use" personnel who are compelled by executive order to use government aircraft for all travel because of "security and communications needs," according to the Government Accountability Office.

The government covers the costs of official trips, while personal travel is to be reimbursed by the office holder. However, the reimbursement is to be at an equivalent to the cost of coach fare, which is much less, the GAO said.

Both Holder and Mueller came under fire earlier this year for their expensive travel costs...

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, along with 17 other Senate Republicans, has introduced the Defund Obamacare Act of 2013, which would fully defund Obamacare, in the wake of the recent string of bad news surrounding the law.
