Martina Laurene Ries of Piedmont, Kansas, died on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado, Kansas at the age of 90.  She was born on August 21, 1921 in Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Bessie (Moren) Baker.

She was raised in Iowa and attended Van Wert School.  On October 9, 1937, Martina was united in marriage to Keith Ries in Iowa.  They made their home in Napa California.  Keither preceded her in death on March 23, 2002.  Martina was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Church of Wichita, Kansas and the Gateway Baptist Church of Gilbert, Arizona.

She is survived by one daughter, Janice Scott of Piedmont, Kansas; one son, Dean Ries of Maricopa, Arizona; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Dennis; four brothers, Edgar, Dennis, Harold, and Gerald; three sisters, June Collins, Holly Anderson, and Lois Marino; and one grandson, Jeff.

Funeral services were held on August 13, 2012 at the Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka, Kansas with Pastor Jim Rackham of Cornerstone Christian Church officiating.  Interment followed at Piedmont Cemetery.
