Orien Walker-Tanner passed away on May 18, 2012 at Via Christi St. Teresa Campus in Wichita, Kansas.  She was 98 years of age and a longtime resident of Moline, Kansas.  Orien was born on August 10, 1913 near Leeds, Kansas in Chautauqua County to Joseph Henry and Bertha Lois (Miler) Hill.

Orien attended Ebenezer Rural School and graduated from Moline High School in 1932.  On February 12, 1934 she married Damain Phillip Walker, and she lived on the family farm until his death March 7, 1972.  On November 28, 1986, she married Maynard Blair Tanner and moved to his home in Moline.  In 2007, they moved to Park West Plaza in Wichita, Kansas where he passed away on April 24, 2010.

Orien was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Altar Society in Moline, Kansas.  She was also a member of the Ladies American Legion Auxiliary.  For several years, she was a volunteer for the Friendship Meals in Moline.

She is survived by sons, Bill Walker and his wife, Barbara of Kingman, Kansas, Earl Joe Walker and his wife, Shirl of Shawnee, Kansas, and Phil Walker and his wife, Margaret of Wichita, Kansas; daughters, Loreta Ryan and her husband, Richard, Beth Llafet and her husband, Kent, and Margie Dunn, all of Kansas City, Missouri, and Marlene Edgington and husband, Jim of Wichita, Kansas; three stepchildren, Jim Tanner and his wife, Norma, Janet Mueller and her husband, Walter, and Joan Blankenship; 25 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline, Kansas.  Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church.  Burial will be at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Moline, Kansas.  Memorials are suggested to either St. Mary's Altar Society or the Moline Friendship Meals and may be left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Services are entrusted to Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Hme, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.
