Have a very special day all you mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers too.  Hope you have your day anyway you want it.

Wilma

I had my Mother's Day last week when all four of my daughters and I visited the new casino outside Mulvane.  My youngest daughter stayed with me until she was satisfied that I knew what I was doing.  Oldest daughter stayed close by because she hovers like a mother hen.  Second oldest daughter didn't get very far away from me just simply because I don't get to enjoy her company very often.  Now Janet is a different story.  She took off to find a machine that would pay off big.  She did come back and check on us once in awhile.  She did find a machine that would pay off, except it didn't pay off for her.  She just happened to find youngest daughter's favorite machine and played it until she got bored with it.  By that time youngest daughter was there and happy to get her machine back.  First spin it paid off handsomely.  She did share it with Janet like a good little sister should.

Today I am happy because I just got some ground roto tilled that I had been wanting done.  Today was the first time that it has been dry enough to work it.  Janet's husband tilled it for me while Janet rode the lawn mower.  My yard is mowed, the space for some more roses is ready.  It has been a good day.

Happy Mother's Day to the rest of you.  Hope yours is as good as mine has been.

Do you know what kind of roses you want this time?

Wilma

Just something to fill up spaces that it is hard to get to with the lawn mower and will bloom all summer.  The Knock-Out roses sound good to me except for the size.  There are some Drift that are a combination of a tea rose and a miniature rose.  I am not sure that I want them to be that small.  I have some picked out, but I need to see them in the flesh before deciding.

Happy Mother's Day to everyone.  Mine was a good day, no kids close enough to come home but all of them called.

Wilma, a friend of mine bought a rose bush last month that was named "Oklahoma" and it looked real sturday and had long stem with large blooms that you could smell before you got close enough to see which one was so fragrant.  Plan to get a couple of them next year.

Wilma

Is it red?  I think my mother had one of those.  She bought it just because it was called "Oklahoma", the state where she was born and mostly raised.

I want to share one of my Mother's Day cards.  It speaks for itself.  To us it is really funny because this is what Buddy and I go through several times a day.  I have to persuade him to give up my chair and sometimes he practically pushes me out of it.

I looked at roses today and saw that Oklahoma you all were talking about. Really nice. I settled on a red Double Knock Out for now.

Wilma

I bought roses yesterday, but I didn't get a Knock-Out.  I thought they would be too tall for where I want them.  I bought some that spread but don't get any taller than 2 1/2 to 3 ft. and some that get only 1 1/2 ft tall.  After planting the ones I have, I might reconsider as I know that I am going to need more to fill the space I have.  I had to stop as my mind just wouldn't wrap itself around any more than the six I got.

Ms Bear

When I trimmed my roses back in Feb. I put some of the cuttings in a pot of dirt and kept watering it.  They are growing and have rooted and I will set them out next spring.  The only problem is I don't remember which ones are from the bush rose and which ones are from the climbers.

Oh well, another lesson learned.
