Kansas currently has 9 inmates on death row. The count includes Scott Cheever who killed the Greenwood County sheriff in January 2005.

The United States has 3,220 inmates on death row.

The nine in Kansas compares to 719 in California, 322 in Texas, 47 in Missouri, and 4 in Colorado.
