Personally, I think the same lack of moral foundation exists when a any private company seeks the power, largess and money of government to accomplish its' private agenda... say wind farms, ethanol production or after school movies for the kiddies, for example. Government subsidy of these things is morally bankrupt and repulsive... especially when private equity funding exists in a capitalist economy.
