Octa Lee Hainlin, 91, of Moline, Kansas,  died Monday, April 11, 1988 at the Elk Manor Nursing Home at Moline.  She was born December 24, 1896 in Texas County, Missouri, to John Milton and Mary Paralee (Rust) Higginbotham

On February 20, 1918 at Howard, Kansas, Octa married Charles Wesley Hainlin.  He preceded her in death on June 9, 1967.  Octa was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church at Moline.  She was also a member of the Eastern Star Lodge at Longton, Kansas, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary at Moline.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Lee Bynum of Independence, Kansas, and Joan Durbin of Moline, Kansas; three sisters, Minnie Fouch and Ruby Pembleton, both of Ft. Wayne, Indiana,  and Ruth Nay of Moline, Kansas; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 14, 1988 at 2:00 p.m. at the Watt Funeral Home Chapel in Moline, Kansas.  Rev. William Ripley, Pastor of the Moline United Methodist Church officiated.  Serving as pallbearers were Lee Bynum, Dan Durbin, Charles Durbin, Lawrence Malone, John Clark, and Eddie Barnes.  Shea Watkins provided prelude and postlude music on the organ.  Lisa Bynum, a granddaughter, sang "Old Rugged Cross."  Interment was in the Moline Cemetery.  Watt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
