Julia Ettabell (Benson) Johnson, age 105, a resident of Severy, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Vintage Park in Eureka, Kansas.  She was born August 19, 1906 in Geary County, Kansas near Dwight to John and Arbelia (Johnson) Benson.  She was the eighth child born of eleven with four brothers and six sisters. 

Julia moved to Greenwood County as a child to the Burkton Community southeast of Eureka, Kansas in the spring of 1917.  She went to Burkton Rural School through grade school.  She attended high school in Eureka and graduated from Fall River High School.  She attended summer school at Emporia State Teachers College and then taught at several rural schools.

On November 3, 1934, she was united in marriage to Albert Johnson in Emporia, Kansas.  They made their home on a farm northwest of Fall River, Kansas until a tornado took their place in 1956 at which time they moved to a farm east of Severy.

She is survived by three sons, Louis Johnson and Carl Johnson, both of Severy, Kansas and Calvin Johnson of Eureka, Kansas; one daughter, Evelyn Benest of Climax, Kansas; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; and three nieces and three nephews.  Julia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert; and four brothers and six sisters.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at South Lawn Cemetery, Severy, Kansas with Rev. Tony Pameticky officiating.  There is no visitation,.  Family suggests contributions be made to the Vintage Park Resident Activity Fund and may be left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.countrysidefh.com  Arrangements are under the direction of Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home, P.O.
