F. G. "Buck" and Donna Joann Liebau of rural Grenola, Kansas, died in an airplane accident the evening of February 20, 1999.

Buck and Jo were proprietors of Liebau Aerial Spray Service and members of the Kansas Agricultural Aviation Association, AOPA and the National Rifle Association.

Buck was born in a farmhouse 1 mile north of Grenola on April 9, 1933 to Gilbert Leroy and Enah Aldina (Nelson) Liebau.  He received his education in Laramie, Wyoming public school system and graduated in 1951.

Donna Joann was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, August 28, 1933, to Walter D. and Elsie L. (Johnson) Robison.  She received her primary education in Cheyenne and also was a graduate of Laramie High School in 1951.

Buck and Jo were married April 6, 1952, in Greeley, Colorado and moved to Grenola, Kansas, where they have made their home for the past 47 years.   To this union were born three children, Ken Liebau of Grenola, Kansas; Vickie Shore of Grenola and Chuck Liebau of Cambridge, Kansas.  Buck and Jo were preceded in death by their parents.

Survivors of the couple include Ken, Vickie and Chuck and their families and Buck's sister, Priscilla Rivers of Grenola, Kansas, his aunt, Alberta Young of Howard, Kansas, Joann's sister, Doris Cochran of Laramie, Wyoming and brother, Don (Robo) Robison of Kailua, Hawaii and their six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Buck and Jo were held on Thursday, February 25, 1999, at 2:00 p.m. at the Grenola Community Building with Rev. Wallace Wartick of the Grenola Christian Church officiating.  Doug Miller was the soloist singing "Wind Beneath my Wings".  The pallbearers were Amie Liebau, Andrew Liebau, Jake Liebau, Judd Leibau, Brandi Miller and Rhiannon Shore.  Honorary pallbearers were Darrell Burdette, Carty Hopper, R. G. Jordan, Darrel Moore, Roger Patteson, Don Roe, Harley Salzwedel, Bob Shore and Rich Shore.

A memorial has been established with Big Brothers and Sisters of Cowley County or Grenola Historical Society.  Contributions may be left with the funeral home.  The arrangements were made with the Zimmerman Funeral Home.
