Indescribable Gift
Dec 11, 2012 04:00 am | Roy

"Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!" 2 Corinthians 9:15

God's indescribable gift is not peace or joy, although His gift brings peace and joy. His gift is a person. His gift is Jesus Christ. When we have Jesus we have everything God wants to give us.

All that our hearts have ever desired, every need we face, every truth we seek, and every blessing we long for is found in Jesus Christ. There is no other person, no other relationship, no other provision, and no other source that God will use to meet our deepest needs.

All things are in Jesus Christ and we are complete in Him. He is the Fountain that quenches our thirst, the Bread that nourishes our souls, the Light that dispels our darkness, the Physician that heals our wounds, the Shepherd that guides our steps, the Counselor that gives us wisdom, the Word that establishes us in truth, the Faithful One that gives us security, the Vine that nourishes our spirits, the Dayspring that gives us hope, the Door that gives us access to the Father, and the Mighty God that rules our hearts.

What a love! What a Savior! What a gift! May our hearts be open to receive Him, may our faith be ready to trust Him, may our wills be surrendered to obey Him, may our feet and hands be committed to follow Him, may our faces be anointed to reflect Him, may our actions and attitudes honor Him, and may our voices be uplifted to praise Him.

For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him. Colossians 2:9-10 NKJV

Why did the Prophets proclaim Jesus?

Why did Mary sing about Jesus?

Why did the Angels point the Shepherds to Jesus?

Why did the Star guide Wise Men to Jesus?

Why did John the Baptist prepare people for Jesus?

Why did the Disciples bring seekers to Jesus?

Why did God say about Jesus, "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased."

Why does the Holy Spirit draw us to Jesus?

Because in Jesus, God will meet our every need, through Jesus we will be given every provision, and from Jesus we will receive every blessing God can give.

If Jesus is who He says He is,

If Jesus can do all He said He can do,

If Jesus can be all He has promised to be,

If Jesus will return like He said He would return,

If Jesus loves you like He said He loves you,

You have no reason to worry or fear, and you every reason to be at rest and live in His peace.

His name shall be called...Prince of Peace.  Isaiah 9:6

Savior

"Behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus." Luke 1:31

"Thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins." Matthew 1:21

When the angel Gabriel came to Mary to tell her the incredible news of the life that would be formed in her, the angel also gave her the name of the child. The name was not her choice, nor the choice of Joseph, to whom she was espoused.  The name was God's choice. God chose a name that could, in one single word, but a spotlight on the reason why God's Son left heaven and came to earth. They were not told to call Him "Wise" even though He was the Wisdom of God; they were not told to call Him "Creator" even though by Him all things were created; they were not told to call Him "Warrior" even though He is the Captain of the heavenly host.

The earthly name God chose for His Son was Jesus. In Hebrew His name is Yeshua.  Yeshua is not only a name that means salvation, but it also means a celebration of all that salvation brings to us.

Salvation means a celebration of victory over the greatest problem men and women face, the problem of sin. It is a problem that only God could solve, and it is a problem that God did solve through His Son. Even though Jesus could help people, heal people, guide people, encourage people, and bless people, it would mean nothing if He could not save people from their sins.

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Acts 4:12

Salvation means liberty from sin's bondage, forgiveness from sin's transgression, justification from sin's judgment, and life from sin's sentence of death.

Salvation also means deliverance, aid, prosperity, health, help, and welfare. In sin we find everything that is bad, but in Salvation we find everything that is good; in sin we find everything that is wrong; in Salvation we find everything it right; in sin we find everything that is false; in Salvation we find everything that is true.

Jesus was given the name Savior, because He is the Savior. Salvation is not found in a ritual, a church, a creed, or in any good works that anyone can do, no matter how sincere they may be. Salvation is in a person. God has only one Savior for the sinner, and one way to be saved. That way, that name, that person, is Jesus.

"Yes, that is it! Christ the Savior! Not merely Christ the Helper of the poor, or the Feeder of the hungry, or the Father of the prodigals, or the Comfort of the sorrowful; but Christ the Savior from condemnation and guilt, from stains and filth, from the love and power and presence of sin." –Bramwell Booth, Trumpet of the Lord.

Through the manger God draws us back to the quiet waters of salvation, to the lowly place of worship, to the peace of His presence, to the simplicity of the cross, to the beauty of His face, and to the only gift that Love could ever give...God's only begotten Son.

The Prayer of Salvation
Jesus, I thank You that you came and died on the cross for my sins so that I can be forgiven. I am a sinner and in need of Your grace, mercy, and forgiveness. I turn from my sins and say "No" to a life of living for myself. I turn to You and say "Yes" to Your will for my life. Thank You for being my Savior. I ask You now to save me from my sins. I open my heart to You and receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank you for saving me and forgiving me. Amen.

Jesus the Faithful One
Dec 17, 2012 04:00 am | Roy

The Savior's coming means you can trust The One who is faithful to His Word to fulfill every promise He has spoken to you about His Son. Every prophecy that God spoke concerning the coming of the Messiah as our redeemer was fulfilled by Jesus Christ—His humble, virgin birth in the town of Bethlehem, His journey into Egypt, His maturing years in Nazareth, His holy and blameless life, His suffering and death on the cross, and His triumphant resurrection for all were a part of the Scriptures declaring Him to be the Faithful One!

The confidence we have...the trust we hold...

the hope we carry... rest in His faithfulness.

Every promise He has made He purposes to fulfill.

He has the authority to accomplish all He has spoken.

His power is limitless...His character changeless...

His love endless.

The Wonderful One
Dec 18, 2012 04:00 am | Roy

His name shall be called Wonderful. Isaiah 9:6

He is greater than any ruler,

Mightier than any warrior,

Nobler than any king,

Wiser than any sage,

Greater than any kingdom,

Lovelier than any crown,

Higher than any name—

No one could be more worthy of our worship,

our love, and our life-long devotion.

Come Let Us Adore Him!
Dec 19, 2012 04:00 am | Roy

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:32

He came in a way that fulfilled so much...

Spoke in a way that taught so much...

Died in a way that provided so much...

Rose in a way that conquered so much...

Lives in a way that gives so much...

Loves in a way that means so much.

Today, I want to make a difference.

" They will call him Immanuel, which means 'God is with us.'" Matthew 1:23

Into the world came...

God's purest Light to show us the way;

God's perfect Savior to free us from sin;

God's tender Shepherd to care for our needs;

God's sure Foundation to make us secure;

God's fullest Joy to give us a song;

God's broken Bread to satisfy our hunger;

God's conquering King to rule in our hearts;

God's healing Fountain to make us whole;

God's highest Purpose to fulfill our longings;

God's quieting Peace to bring us rest;

God's redeeming Love to make us His own.

May you find Jesus to be—

The peace for every struggle,

The supply for every need,

The solution for every problem,

The escape for every temptation,

The release for every burden,

The balm for every pain,

The comfort for every sorrow,

The victory for every battle,

The wisdom for every decision,

The strength for every endeavor,

The hope for every tomorrow,

The song for every day.

They Worshiped Him
Dec 21, 2012 04:00 am | Roy

And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: Matthew 2:11 KJV

Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. Psalm 95:6 NIV

Wise men worshiped the young child because He was the Son of God. He was the One who was there at the beginning, speaking into existence the heavens, the earth, and all that live upon it.  He was the One who knew eternal fellowship with His Father in heaven, and He was the One who was adored by the entire heavenly host.

The greatest revelation that came to the wise men was the discovery that the answers they sought were not to be found in pagan practices, but in a person.  They left behind the darkness of the Medes and Persians as they followed the light of His star. They left behind the rituals and reasoning of man as they sought the true Wisdom of God. They left behind the practices of magic and sorcery as they looked for the One true Master. They left behind the vanity and idolatry of corrupt rulers as they journeyed to worship the new born King.

Worship is so much more than singing choruses, playing musical instruments, or lifting hands in praise. Worship is not found in the volume of our voices, but in the meekness of our spirits; not in the beat of our music, but in the bending of our knees; not in our outward gestures, but in our yielded hearts. To know Him, to really know Him, throws the doors of worship wide open. Worship is about Jesus—His beauty, His glory, His majesty, and His loveliness. When our hearts see Jesus we worship—we can't help ourselves.

He is Found by Those Who Seek Him
Dec 24, 2012 04:00 am | Roy

Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.  Isaiah 55:6  NKJV

To seek Jesus is to seek reality. He not only has directions for us to follow, but He is the pathway upon which we travel.

He not only has things to say to us, but He is the Truth we seek to know.

He not only has the answers for our existence, but He is the Eternal Life that we so desperately seek.

A glorious truth of Scripture is the certainty that if we seek after the Lord we will not be disappointed. Seekers are finders. The beauty of God's promise is what we find and Who we find as the result of our seeking.

We not only find peace, but we also find the Prince of Peace.

We not only find righteousness, but we also find the Righteous One.

We not only find counsel, but we also find the Counselor.

We not only find wonders, but we also find the Wonderful One.

We not only find spiritual food, but we also find the Bread of Life.

We not only find provision, but we also find the Shepherd of our souls.

We not only find salvation, but we also find the Savior.

We not only find the Kingdom, but we also find the King.

The value of finding Jesus Christ is beyond measure. His worth is more than a field filled with diamonds—He is a limitless treasure chest of priceless gems and precious stones.

He is more than a mineshaft filled with gold nuggets—He is an endless vein of pure gold.

His splendor is more glorious than a thousand sunsets, and His majesty is nobler than all the kings who have ever reigned.

His grace is greater than our arms can embrace, His beauty is more than our eyes can behold, and His love is deeper than our hearts can explore.

How truly great is the reward of the one who seeks Him.

God Sent Us A Savior
Dec 25, 2012 04:00 am | Roy

If our greatest need had been information,
God would have sent us an educator.

If  our greatest need had been technology,
God would have sent us a scientist.

If our greatest need had been money,
God would have sent us an economist.

If our greatest need had been pleasure,
God would have sent us an entertainer.

But our greatest need was forgiveness,
So God sent us a Savior.

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. Matthew 1:21
