Sara Nell Crowell, age 71, of Longton, Kansas, died Friday, September 16, 2011 at her home.  Sara was born on March 17, 1940 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Thomas Gilbert and Juanita Virginia (Ramsey) O'Dell.

Sara attended elementary school at Bentley, Kansas and graduated from high school in Longton, Kansas.  On September 16, 1958, she married Patrick E. Crowell in Miami, Oklahoma.  Sara and Pat were married for 53 years.  Pat survives at their home.

Sara was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline, Kansas.  She was a member of the Altar Society and Eastern Star.  Sara worked as an administrative assistant for the Elk Valley High School.  She had also worked at the Longton Bank and Boeing Company.

Sara enjoyed many things in life.  She loved to travel with her husband and family.  She loved to fish and was awarded the Small Bass Lunker award from the State of South Dakota.,  While raising a large family, Sara was always willing to help others whether it was a family member or a stranger.  She was kind-hearted and giving.  Most of all, Sara loved being with her family and being a mother and grandmother.

Sara is survived by her husband, Pat; three sons, Steve Crowell of Plymouth, Minnesota, Patrick Crowell of Viola, Kansas, and Charles Crowell of Conway Springs, Kansas; six daughters, Rebecca Macy of Longton, Kansas, Debbie Denholm of Tonganoxie, Kansas,  Virginia Crowell of Viola, Kansas, Christy Schneck of Wichita, Kansas, Kathy Folsom of Longton, Kansas, and Judy Andra of Conway Springs, Kansas; three sisters, Sondra Dowell of Augusta, Kansas, Judy Warren of Springfield, Missouri, and Cindy Cates of Fort Scott, Kansas; 36 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.  Sara was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Coeta Bowman; and a brother, Tom O'Dell.

Cremation has been requested.  Rosary service will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Mass to follow at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline, Kansas.  Memorials have been suggested to either Harry Hynes Hospice or St. Jude's Children's Fund, and may be left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 206 E.
