Dalton Emery Baty died from wounds received in a hunting accident near his home at Elk Falls, Kansas on Sunday, December 5, 2004.  He was 10 years of age.  Dalton was born on February 4, 1994 at Independence, Kansas to Brent Edward and Tina Delores (Fowler) Baty.

He began attending school at Independence, and then moved with his family to the Severy, Kansas area where he attended the first grade.  Dalton later lived in the Elk Falls community and was currently a fifth grade student at Moline Grade School in Moline, Kansas.

He enjoyed playing football and watching cartoons.  Dalton's favorite food was fried chicken.

He is survived by his mother, Tina Baty of Independence; his father, Brent Baty of Elk Falls; his brother, Brian Baty of Elk Falls; his sisters, Jessica and Charly Baty, both of Independence; his grandparents, Steven and Delores Fowler of Neodesha; his grandmother, Lena Baty of Wichita and his great grandfather, Richard Lindsey fo Neodesha.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Howard with Rev. Kim Wilcox and Rev. Harold Tucker officiating.  Sharon Hughes will be the organist.  The songs "Angel", "Message To My Father" and "Tell Dalton We Love Him", will be played.  The casket bearers will be Chad Criger, Chip Criger, Brian Fugate and Bill Hugo.  Cremation will take place on a later date.  A memorial has been established in his name with the Bank of Moline and the Howard State Bank.  Contributions may be left with the funeral home.  The funeral arrangements are being made with the Zimmerman Fuenral Home of Howard.
