Mrs. Barkley was born November 23, 1843 in Stark county, Ohio, was married to J. H. Barkley November 17, 1855 at Greenup, Illinois.  Moved to Kansas in 1880, then moved to Harrisonville, Missouri, May 1, 1907 and to Kansas City August 1, 1910.  Mrs. Barkley has been in poor health for the last five years, undergoing a serious abdominal operation for a tumor, at St. Mary's Hospital July 21, 1910.  After recovering from the operation was removed to the home of her daughter Mrs. Horn, where she has since resided.

Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Barkley, three of whom are living.  One son, D. M. Barkley, living at their old home in Howard, Elk county, Kansas, and two daughters in kansas City, Mrs. H. E. Reece, of 3010 East 32 st. and Mrs. W. A. Horn of 3000 East 32 St.

The Rev. J. C. Moore formerly of Harrisonville, Missouri preached the funeral services at the home.
