GRENOLA-Wilma Harrell Tisdale, 92, of Pittsburg, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006 at the home of her daughter.

She was born Sept. 29, 1914, at Willis, Va., to Charles Wade and Lucy Elena Akers Knowles.  She moved with her family to Kansas when she was a young girl and graduated from Grenola High School.  Following High School, she attended Emporia State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education.  later, she received her Master's Degree from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas.  She was of Methodist faith.

She married Oscar Bayne "Tex" Harrell on May 28, 1938.  He preceded her in death on March 27, 1950.  On Nov. 19, 1968 she married John William Tisdale.  He preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 1993.

Wilma worked for the Ft. Worth Public School system where she was a teacher for the blind and special education.  She moved 20 years ago from Ft. Worth, Texas.  Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Best of rural Pittsburg and Judy Bicknell of Pittsburg; a sister, Helen Flaharty of McCune; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; a brother, Herbert Knowles and a son, Dr. Charles Bayne "Charlie" Harrell.

Services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Brenner Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Ken Butts of the College Heights United Methodist Church officiating.  Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today  and after 9 a.m. Friday to sign the register.  Following the services, she will be cremated and her remains will be buried at a later date in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Arrangments are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. Fourth St., Pittsburg.
