Howard Courant
December 25, 1930

A wedding of mote than usual interest to folks in this section of the state occurred last Sunday afternoon, December 21st, at four o'clock, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harley I. French, when their daughter, Miss Harriet became the bride of Mr. Harold N. Gibbon of Howard, Rev. William C. Chappell pastor of the Howard M. E. church, officiating.  A number of relatives and friends were present.

Mrs. Gibbon came to Howard last September as instructor in the home economics department of Howard high school and during her stay here has made many friends and has been active in affairs of the school and city.  However, she did not come here this time as a stranger as we believe she was born in Howard while her father was superintendent of the Howard school some years ago.  Mrs. ??? French is a graduate of El Dorado high school and Southwestern College of Winfield and is a young woman of many accomplishments.

Mr. Gibbon has lived in Howard for several years, coming here from Burlington where his parents now live.  He received his education in the Burlington schools and at Baker University and for several years has been manager of the Gibbon Lumber Company in Howard.  He is a World War veteran and is active in Legion work and has been superintendent of the Methodist Sunday school for several years.  Their many friends extend congratulations and best wishes for a long and happy wedded life.  They will go to house keeping in the Sims property west of the Presbyterian church.

Rev. and Mrs. W. C. Chappell, Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Hamar and Miss Gertrude went to El Dorado last Sunday to attend the wedding ceremony,--The Citizen.

Janet, didn't you have Mrs. Gibbon for your 3rd grade teacher?

Janet Harrington

Why, yes, Mother.  Mrs. Harriett Gibbon was my 3rd grade teacher.  She and her husband had the Severy lumber yard, which was called the Gibbon lumber yard, I think.  Harold Gibbon was a cousin? to Uncle Frank Gibbon.

Wilma

Possibly as Uncle Frank was connected to the lumber yard.  I know that 2 of your sisters had her for 3rd grade but thought she might have been another of the teachers that had to retire after having your class.  Did Patti have her, too?
