Charla Eileen Dunn, age 42, a resident of Howard, Kansas and formerly of Cedar Vale, Kansas and Holton, Kansas, died Monday, May 2, 2011 at her home.  She was born on December 10, 1968 in Newton, Kansas, the daughter of Charles and Sally (Madden) Jackson.

Charla started working at age 16 with her mother at the Cedar Vale Nursing Home.  She also worked as a correctional officer for Jackson County.  Charla owned and operated a scrapbooking supply store in Holton, Kansas.  She was also a homemaker and great at making cheesecakes.  On December 16, 1994, Charla was united in marriage to Alfred J. Dunn III in Miami, Oklahoma, and they later divorced.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Charla is survived by her daughters, Cheri Renee Kirk of Westmoreland, Kansas and Jesse Beeson of Sedan, Kansas; her son, Daniel Ashton Dunn of Holton, Kansas; her parents, Charles and Sally Jackson of Cedar Vale, Kansas; sisters, Scovel Louise Ralston and Juanita Melissa "Missy" Thompson, both of Cedar Vale, Kansas, Rose Matherly of Tampa, Florida, Angel Wirtz of Boone, Iowa, Laura Thompson of Kermit, West Virginia, and Alice Sargent of Charleston, West Virginia; brothers, Edward Charles Glover of Wichita, Kansas, James Glover of Ozark, Missouri, Jonah Thompson of Cedar Vale, Kansas, Charles Edward Jackson Jr. of Wichita, Kansas, and William David Thompson of Kermit, West Virginia'; three grandchildren, Keegan, Noah, and Wyatt;  nieces and nephews, Hope Kirchner, Candi Anglin, Steffanie Mauzey and Danielle Thompson.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Alma Jackson.

Cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Wee Kirk Chapel south of Cedar Vale, Kansas.  Contributions to the Charla Dunn Memorial may be left with Howard State Bank in Howard, Kansas or Cedar Vale, Kansas or left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 206 E.
