Hiram Claude Bright was born in Boon county, Indiana, May 20, 1851, died at his home in Howard, Kansas, December 16, 1910, age 59 years, 6 months, 26 days.

He came to Kansas in 1873, was married to Mary Elizabeth Benefiel, November 7, 1876.  To them were born four children, Mrs. Ollie Baker, Mrs. Viola Davis, of Howard, J. D. Bright, of Independence, and Miss Mattie Bright of Howard, all of whom with the wife survive his departure.  One brother, L. P. Bright of Longton, and his mother also survive.  Mr. Bright has lived in Howard or near Howard 37 years.

The funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. T. A. Nichols, interment in Grace Lawn.
