Scotty D. Lowen, age 51, of Moline, Kansas was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Friday, March 4, 2011 on U.S. 166 three miles west of Sedan, Kansas.  According to the report from the Kansas Highway Patrol, Loewen was driving his 1990 Jeep Wrangler westbound about 2:50 p.m. when he slowed to make a right turn onto the U.S. 166 alternate business route, merged back into traffic, passed the intersection, pulled onto the right shoulder, and then made a left turn in front of a semitrailer.  The Peterbilt semitrailer came to rest on the north shoulder, while the Loewen vehicle ended up in the south ditch.  The driver of the semi was not injured, but Loewen was airlifted to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas where he died about 7:00 p.m. according to the KHP.
