Louise Aldine Crane was born at the family farm near Newtonia, Missouri on November 23, 1917.  Her parents were Causey Edward Troxel and Louise Ethel (Pike) Troxel.  Mrs. Crane died February 5, 2011 at the Life Care Center in Burlington, Kansas.

She attended several different schools, including Mount Grove, a rural one-room school during her first eight years of education, Granby High School her freshman year, Diamond High School her sophomore year, and Midway High School her junior and senior  years.  During World War II, Aldine worked at the Cessna Airplane Factory in Wichita, Kansas manufacturing "Cessna AT-17 Bobcats" which were used to train bomber pilots during the war.

On April 17, 1949, she married Ralph Maurice Crane at the Berwick Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Missouri.  They resided in Severy, Kansas until Ralph's death in 2004.  Mrs. Crane was a homemaker and active in many local organizations throughout her life including Rebekah Lodge, Eastern Star, Cosmos Club, the Severy United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Sunday School teacher, PTA, Flint Hills Writer's Club, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion.  She was also a prolific author, writing over 1,000 poems and many short stories.  Her other interests included music, books, history, nature, archaeology, geology, animals, and travel; but above all, she adored her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.

Mrs. Crane is survived by her son, Causie Cecil Crane of Logansville, Georgia; stepson, Gary Ralph Crane of Shawnee Court; daughter, Rebecca Louise Vannocker of Olathe, Kansas;  11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.  A half-brother, Freland Troxel, and a half-sister, Jessie Duren, preceded her in death.  

The service to celebrate the life of Louise Aldine Crane will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.  Interment will be at Berwick Cemetery near Pierce City, Missouri.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests the memorial contributions be given to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which may be sent in care of Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1233, Howard, Kansas 67349.
