Thank you, everyone, for your wishes. It's been a lovely day, and not at all what I expected.

West Elk had a Junior High Scholars Bowl meet to go to tomorrow, only to find out about 10:30 this morning that the meet was this afternoon. So we've had a day of changed plans, find a bus and driver, get kids rounded up, parents notified, change plans, etc.

So I went the the team and watched their first meet of the year. 7th Graders came in 2nd; 8th Graders came in 3rd. Wonderful performance for a rush-group. Proud of the students.

Part of the changed plans meant Jim and I wouldn't go out to eat, because I didn't know when I'd be back from Scholars Bowl. So we got some steaks from Family Market - they have wonderful meat!!! - and Jim fixed a beautiful dinner when I returned. Mmmm good!

While I was gone, he baked and decorated a cake for me. Sorry, forgot to take pictures before I cut into it. White cake, lemon frosting, lemon drops and two dolls decorating the top of it. Jim's a sweetheart!

And, cousin Larry, I'm one of those idiots that still enjoys growing old. 60 is a good number and I'm quite pleased I've reached it. It's verification of "old age." When you're 58 and 59, you're not really considered "old" and don't get any of the benefits, just the creaks and cracks and groans. It's an "twiddle-your-thumbs" age. 60 is so much better. People accept more eccentricities if you're 60.

Ms. Bear - the weather was wonderful today. Chilly, a little breezy, but above freezing and no snow!!! I have family in Minnesota and Wisconsin hit by the latest snow storms, so no snow here is great. We've had our share for the year, as far as I'm concerned. More moisture would be good, but it could rain a little and be warm enough to rain, not snow.
