Robert Charles Hutcheson, physician, dentist, and druggist, was born near Bellefontaine, Ohio, December 25, 1858, son of Thomas Martin and Elizabeth Wyley (Mitchell) Hutcheson.  The father was born in County Amarr, Ireland in 1822, and was an early school teacher and farmer in Kansas.  He died near Olathe,  on November 23, 1889.  His ancestry was Scotch-Irish.  Elizabeth Wyley Mitchell died near Olathe  in 1916.  Her ancestry was Scotch.

Dr. Hutcheson attended public school in Kansas, was graduated from the Kansas City Medical College on March 17, 1885, from the Kansas City Dental School i 1890, and from the Western Dental College in 1914.

In 1892, he was married to Stella Gertrude Kerr at Cottonwood Falls, Kansas.  She was born at Washington, Iowa in 1870.  To them three children were born, Robert, on October 3, 1893, who married Hannah Hoffman; Walter, on November 5, 1896, died December 25, 1897; and Helen born May 7, 1899, who married M. H. Bassey.

Admitted to practice on March 27, 1885, Dr. Hutcheson taught in the Kansas City Dental College and the Western Dental College and from 1909 until 1911, was dean of the Topeka Dental College.  At the present time, he is in active practice and operates a drug store at Elk Falls.  He has some farming interests and raises sheep, cattle, hogs, and Percheron horses.  A Republican, he has served as a member of the Kansas legislature from Pratt County two terms.  He is the author of the Hutcheson Quiz.  At the present time he is a member of the Kansas State Medical and the Elk County Medical Societies.  He is treasurer of the High schooll board, secretary of the county school board association and is a member of the Kansas City United Presbyterian Church.
