Evidentally, SUSAN MONTOYA BRYAN, Associated Press did not watch the 1972 game where the Oakland Raiders blew out the Houston Oilers 34-0 in Houston, nor did she ever see a replay of one of the many infamous events on the early days of Monday Night Football on ABC TV which ESPN replays every year.  In that 1972 game by the 4th quarter, most in attendence in Houston had left the Astrodome.  A Monday Night ABC Sports cameraman showed about a 100 box seat area of the Astrodome with the Oilers behind 34-0 with only 1 man and 99 empty seats in the picture.  As the cameraman zoomed in on the Oilers fan who was sitting in a very slouched position, the Houston fan unexpectedly showed the nationally televised Monday Night Football ABC camera the middle digit on one of his hands.

And only as "Dandy" Don could say about the lone Houston Oilers fan who was giving the national TV audience the finger with "Dandy Don" saying in his "down home" north Texas accent: "Ahhhh Yes! The Astrodome!  The Eighth Wonder of the World!  That's how they say they're #1 here in Houston".   Even that obscenity by the Oilers fan was made comical, nonsensical, and non-obscene by the quick wit of "Dandy" Don Meredith.  May "Dandy" Don be remembered longer than the Eighth Wonder of the World.  RIP "Dandy" Don.
