Hello Mr. Glenn--

To the best of our knowledge, there are no longer any little country school houses, left, east or west of K-99/  The last one was moved into Howard from Union Center,(Union Center twp., west of Howard) and is now part of the musuem.  As for the small country cemeteries, Cresco is the only one we know much of anything about.  It is well maintained and right along K-99 between Howard and Severy.

There is no town by the name of PawPaw, only the township. We have not found any pictures on the internet regarding PawPaw township, only what you will see on this website.

The Paw Paw school house is still in the country, but it is owned by a private citizen.  Don't know what has become of it.  There are two other one room school houses in the county that are museums just like Union Center's is.  One is in Grenola, Kansas and here is a Grenola website that may talk about that museum.

The other one is in Elk Falls and it is called Pershing, maybe.  It was moved from west of Elk FAlls into Elk Falls and redone by the town people.  I don't know how a person looks at it, but I am sure the Elk Falls postmaster Norma Beougher could tell how to see the inside of it.

The Union Valley one room school house is still standing.  It had been used for a polling place for voting but it is not used any longer.  The Busby school house is still standing and is used for reunions, etc.

Okay, Janet.  There was an Upper Paw Paw and Lower Paw Paw school.  Which one are you talkin' about?  You've been "out in the boonies" since we have, so I would have to say you would probably know more about that.

As for Norma........the last we knew, about a year ago, she was the postmistress of the Longton P.O.

Where is the Union Valley school?  I know about the Union Center school but had never heard of Union Valley.

You know, Lois, I don't really know which Paw Paw school house it is.  I can tell you to take 99 north to the Cresco Cemetery, go west on Rock Road which is known as the Cresco Road, go two miles, turn north and go about 1.5 miles and it sits on the east side of the road.

Union Valley is southwest of Fall River.  If you know where Flint Oak is, you travel west of Flint Oak on Quail Road until you come to the T intersection and Union Valley is right there on the corner on the south side.  I don't know if this is a privately owned building or not.
