I would have liked to have seen him take some other steps first. With other like minded parents, who also had kids on that bus, call, then go to the office, demand an appointment with the driver, (who did let him on the bus) and the school principal that the situation be handled. The school could have made other transportation arrangements for the child until things settled down. The kids on the bus who misbehaved should have been disciplined the first time there was a problem. Their parents should have been made to show up at school for a meeting with the admonishment that their kids lost their bus privileges until the meeting was held. The police could have been called if nothing was done the first time and a threat to call the media may have been a good "big stick" too.

He did! He did everything he thought he should do to stop it.. went to the school system ( as that was where it was happening) and in his mind ...I am sure needed it stopped NOW! Not after the system piddle-dicked it to death and did nothing.

Then the driver should have been fired for letting it continue. This all should have happened after the FIRST incident. There should have never been a second one.

The bus must have had a camera on it, the bus driver should have taken that to the Principal if he couldn't stop the abuse.  The parent should never have had to take matters into his own hands.  Can't blame him for doing it if the school didn't care.  For things to get that out of control was putting all of the students in jeopardy.

This isn't about bullying on the bus, but it was one bus driver's solution to a problem.  One of my husband's brothers was a school bus driver and his problem was just rowdyness on the bus.  This was way before things got to the place they are now.  His solution was to drive out of town, stop the bus and inform the student's that that was as far as they were going until everyone was sitting and quiet.  They sat for awhile, but it seems the student's really wanted to go home.

Bus drivers do that here too. I've seen a bus in front of my house more than once with the driver reading a newspaper waiting for the kids to settle down. Eventually they do.

Ms Bear

There are so many options that a bus driver has to protect the students.  No parent should have to feel like they have to go to those lengths to protect their child.

Stopping the bus and reading the paper is a great solution.

That dad shouldn't have threatened those kids...

He should have dragged their butts off that bus and beat the crap out of them.
