Wayne Roger Beougher, age 86, a resident of Elk Falls, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at his daughter's home in Longton, Kansas.  He was born on April 21, 1924 in Gove, Kansas, the son of Daniel and Pearl (Suiter) Beougher.  

On July 27, 1940, Wayne was united in marriage to Loretta D. Criss in Wichita, Kansas.  They were married for 68 years until her death on July 9, 2009.  Through the years, Wayne worked as a house painter and a truck driver.  He was known by many as the "Candy Man".

Wayne is survived by four sons, Donald Beougher and his wife, Norma of Elk Falls, Kansas, Kenneth Beougher and his wife, Ann of Winfield, Kansas, Roger Beougher and his wife, Tina of Longton, Kansas, and Richard Beougher and his wife, Melinda of Longton, Kansas; three daughters, Wanda Smith of Elk Falls, Kansas, JoAnn Tilley and her husband, Don of Haysville, Kansas; and Brenda Beaumont and her husband, Brian of Longton, Kansas; two brothers Tom Cody of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Clyde Beougher of Idaho; one sister, Wanda Chambers of Arkansas City, Kansas; 31 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.  Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Loretta; and one son, John Beougher.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Elk Valley High Gymnasium in Longton, Kansas with Pastor David Sanchez and Pastor Jim Blocher officiating.  Visitation will be Sunday, September 12, 2010 from 3:00 to 5:00 at Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.  Interment will be at Elk Falls Cemetery, Elk Falls, Kansas.  Family suggests contributions to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and may be left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 206 E.
