KS, I hope you bite that forked tongue of yours! I was simply posing questions for consideration! I'm not for the cultural center. I, like a lot of others wonder what is really going on. I am hardly a "mindless drone" and you know it.  I think for myself after listening and reading a lot of points of view. Why are you hurling insults at me? It makes you appear very crude, rude and ridiculous.  You hate me so much you are no longer able to be objective about anything I say, so you aren't really reading it. Why don't you go protest the Muslim prayer room at the pentagon? It was hit on 911 too. I could say plenty more but my Christian up bringing won't allow it. Like I said once before, people's insecurities are their own problem, not mine.
Warph, you don't have to convince me.  Unfortunately the examples people keep giving won't wash. The Arizona is a national park site, so the Japanese nor anyone would else would be building anything there.  It's part of a Naval Base. It's not private property. I'm concerned how much of the Constitution we are willing to give up over this. It is a very unpopular project, but it is private property.  Why are they allowed to buy it in the first place?  Why is someone willing to finance it? Money! Money will trump emotions every time.
Are we going to formally declare war on an entire religion over this? Then let's stop beating around the bush and say so, bring our troops home from trying to win the hearts and minds of people we supposedly hate, in countries that are almost all Muslim, our declared enemies. Why are we still there? Why do we feel obligated to help the people or rebuild? They are just Muslims, why bother. Why do we care if they like us or not?   Oil! That's why! It's all about big business.  It's costing huge amounts of money to run a war during a very bad economy. That seems to be an enormous double standard that could get more people killed if it gets out of hand. Get out the "Fema Camps," round up all the Muslims and lock them up. If we could do it to Japanese Americans, Italian Americans and a few German Americans during war then, why not Muslim Americans now?
There is a group that is convinced Pres. Bush arranged 911 to keep his father happy, so he could declare war and make up for the fact that his father didn't go after Sadam when he had the chance during Desert Storm. They believe the buildings were prewired with bombs set to go off when the planes hit. They honestly don't think that just the planes hitting could have caused the buildings to collapse the way they did. Should we believe them? Then there are some that don't think a plane hit the pentagon. They think the place was bombed from the inside. These people believe these things with just as much depth and passion as people who believe that all Muslims world wide are sworn to kill Americans. (even American Black Muslims?) Oil. That's why we play footsies with Muslim countries. They have it, we want it and they don't have to sell it to us. What does that have to do with the Cultural center in NYC?   Black mail perhaps?

Oh, and the other thing I meant to say and forgot. In terms of wives and children being abused and beaten. How many people of other faiths do that on a regular basis? I wish is it really was only Muslims who do that, but we all know that isn't true. Nothing like beating the crap out of a wife. Shouldn't we all stand up against that?

frawin

WOW, I assume from that statement that Al beats you regularly, I can understand that. In 46 years of marriage, I have never touched my wife in anyway but to help her or let her know I love her. Beating and/or killing your wife is against the law in America, it is not against the law in most Muslim countries.

kshillbillys

WOW Frank! I love it when you make such good sense and others don't. I guess that's just because I'm a stupid, imbred hillbilly who beats my wife and drags my knuckles and collects my welfare to buy my crack, living in my trailer park, driving my Ford F150, not paying my chlid support to my kids all over the county...hold it I just shot the TV while I was cleaning my rifle. Damn it, I'm not going to be able to watch Nascar tomorrow.  ::)  Well I guess that's enough of my hypocritic Republican ways. I'll turn it back to Ms. Bertha Better Than You sitting down in the Amen Pew....

YOU CALL US HILLBILLYS LIKE THAT'S A BAD THING! WE ARE SO FLATTERED!

THAT'S MS. HILLBILLY TO YOU!

Diane Amberg

KS ,big deal.  You'll get what you give and I finally stood up to you. After you lied about my being a Democrat.,pro abortion and the crack about my sad situation of not having children, which was incredible low, by the way, I decided that was just about enough and decided to hand it right back in the crude, rude style you use so you would understand it. I do not remotely feel like I am better than you or anyone else out there or here either. I don't even know what you do. If you feel lesser that's your own doing. I'm very much for education and have said many times I don't care how people get it, private school, public school, home school, trade school, whatever fits. Yes, I'm well educated. My parents worked very hard so I could be and I will always be grateful for it. So What? Why does that make you so mad? I read lots of view points on internet sites, newspapers and magazines, some very conservative, some moderate and some very progressive. I try to get lots of viewpoints. I don't read just the people who I already know I'll agree with. It bothers me when intentional misinformation is written.
I know nothing about crack and trailer parks. Where did that come from? I was told that Elk County has  Meth, but I have no knowledge of you being on crack ,nor did I know you'd been married before.  By the way I got a message telling me you are usually are really a very nice person. I'd love to believe that but it wouldn't be easy.
Frank, I've taken care of wives who were near death from being beaten. Being "against the law" didn't make them feel a bit better or heal any quicker and their husbands weren't Muslim.  It's terrible what Muslim men do, but they can't legally do it here either.

I know this is a emotionally a tough one, but how can people who demand the Constitution be followed at all costs, be so quick to toss it aside when something like this happens?  People abuse freedom of speech all the time and are protected by the Constitution. People demand their gun rights, and have them, because of the Constitution. Suddenly it doesn't count because it's not popular?

First of all, no one is denying muslims their freedom of religion, no one is saying that they can't worship however they want, so the constitution isn't being denied.  However, in the case of islam, the constitution SHOULD be denied simply based on the fact that Islamic law wouldn't allow the constitution to stand.
You say that it isn't legal for muslims to beat their wives/daughters and that members of other religions also beat their wives, at thats true.  However, Islam is the only religion that CALLS for the beatings and honor killings.  So the comparison you stated doesn't hold water.
It is high time we eased the drought suffered by the Tree of Liberty. Let us not stand and suffer the bonds of tyranny, nor ignorance, laziness, cowardice. It is better that we die in our cause then to say that we took counsel among these.

OMG, you totally missed the point on that one.  BTW, the USS Arizona memorial wasn't even dedicated until 1962..twenty one years after it was hit.

Maxine and I have listened to this long enough. We are tired of Diane and her self imposed comments on this post. Diane, if you think that being a Muslim is so great please exit to their country and live their ways. Frank and KsHillbilly are correct. If Al does not beat you maybe he should for some the the comments you have made  against the people on this forum. You are always against everything anyone says. At least the people on here are Americans and are speaking their mind on a  subject that is close to all of our hearts. In closing, if you do not like the people that are making comments on here maybe it is time you to leave the forum.
A big Hello to everyone in Howard, Frank and Warph glad to see you are all still here.

Varmt You also left out my statement that Pearl Harbor was a Navy Base during all of that time. It wasn't private property so they wouldn't have allowed it either.
Maxine, I wouldn't have expected any less from you. Nobody makes you read me so don't, problem solved. I am Not "against " any body on this forum. I just decided to defend myself from the tirades that go on and on from a few. I don't have to put up with it. I am not "defending"  middle east Muslims and you know it. "Like" the people on the forum as nothing to do with it. Political forums are about issues and aren't supposed to be personal, but there are some on here that can't do anything but attack the writer if there is a difference of opinion or more facts that weren't mentioned. So I figured what the heck, they are allowed to attack me for laying out ideas for discussion, so I'll demand the same privilege. Of course they don't like it. I've tried to stop them several time and agreed not talk mean if they stop too, but they won't. So be it.They have chased several very nice people off here, but I won't be one of them. So instead of questioning and discussing the soundness of ideas we'll continue to throw rocks.
Chuck Baldwin actually stated yesterday that Arizona has sent John Mc Cain back to congress. WARPH will have to speak for it ,but I thought he just won the primary. CB is also recommending a "Patrick Henry" style uprising. What good would that do?  Thank goodness most people aren't that easily led. There are no British soldiers here to fight, and it would do nothing to help the economy. So throw all the rocks you want. I never suggested that anybody out there beats their wives, so stop digging for dirt. All you'll do is get dirty and look foolish. So Al should beat me? Nice attitude for a bunch of born again Christians. Not.

Interesting stuff Elk county.  I took a little vacation this weekend and I come back to see this.  I'm not speaking about the typical anti-muslim rhetoric,  I don't care.  But it saddens me to see a group of people from a place that I love so much sit around and pick on someone because she has the courage to state her opinion in the face of such hateful and vitriolic people.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.
