(This recipe is for the "Grandma's" out there."  Your grandkids will love these!)

1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/3 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. (1 stick) margarine or butter, softened
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 t. vanilla
1 egg
1 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. quick-cooking oats
1 t. baking soda
1/4 t. salt
1 package (6 oz) semisweet chocolate chips

1.  Heat oven to 350 degrees.  Beat sugars, margarine, peanut butter, vanilla and egg in medium bowl with wooden spoon until creamy and well blended.  Mix in flour, oats, baking soda and salt.  Stir in chocoloate chips.

2.  Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.

3.  Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 1 minute before removing from cookie sheet.

Makes about 2 dozen cookies.

Outrageous Chocolate Chip Bars:  Grease bottom of square pan, 9 x 9 x2 inches.  Prepare as directed---except spread dough in pan.  Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.  Cut into 2 x 1 inch bars.   36 bars.

High Altitude Directions (3500 to 6500 feet) For cookies, decrease baking soda to 1/2 teaspoon, bake 13 - 15 minutes.  For bars, decrease baking soda to 1/2 teaspoon; bake 29-34 minutes.
