I got this from a friend and it makes so much sense I felt it should be posted. I know I travelled overseas alot in my career and I can tell you I had to show my ID all the time and the ID was my Passport.

Got this from a friend and it sure makes sense to me....This got my attention, it made me realize how many times I'm asked for ID, I never thought about it before.  Now that I have,
I can't for the life of me see why you'd get upset.
**********************************************

I'm a legal American citizen and I must show my ID when:
     1.  Pulled over by the police.
    2.  Making purchases on my department store credit card.
   3.  When I show up for a doctor's appointment.
   4.  When filling out a credit card or loan application.
   5.  When applying for or renewing a driver's license or passport.
    6.  When applying for any kind of insurance.
    7.  When filling out college applications.
  8.  When donating blood.
  9.  When obtaining certain prescription drugs.
  10.  When making some debit purchases, especially
   if I'm out of state.

11. When collecting a boarding pass for airline or train travel.

I'm sure there are more instances, but the point is that we citizens of the USA  are required to prove who we are nearly every day!
Why should people in this country illegally, be exempt!!!!!
Why shouldn't we guard our borders as closely as every other country in the world does?
                               Go ARIZONA !!!

And the accepted ID seems to be changing from state to state. I renewed my DE license last Dec. and my old license was all I needed. Al has to renew his in the fall and has to have his birth certificate as well as the old license and a utility bill or some such, a total of 4 I think.  I didn't see the letter he got, but apparently a passport is not being accepted, which is strange. You mentioned several that I don't have to show more ID than just the card its self, no drivers license or other. # 2,3,9.  #1 would never happen, I never make "debt" card purchases, just charge purchases and I'm well beyond insurance and college applications, don't need more of #4.
I think we may be just one step from a national identity card, other than a passport, to get around our own country.  I'd be sorry I our "union" ever got to that, but the times they are a changin'. Being asked for ID has never bothered me.
