D-Day

Tuesday, June 6,1944 saw the beginning of the allied invasion of Normandy, the largest amphibious invasion in history with 160,000 soldiers landing and being joined by 100,000 French Resistance fighters and 195,700 ship personnel in support.  They landed over a 50 mile long stretch of beach in France.  The weather, which provided cover and fooled the Germans , was a heaven-sent miracle of no small proportions .

D-Day was the beginning of the liberation of  Europe and a most decisive point in the war.
t is a day to commemorate and remember well because when moments like these are forgotten, then we are doomed to repeat them over and over again until the lesson is learned.  It is that grave.  2,499 American men gave up their lives for their fellow man on that day.  More were wounded and maimed for life.  It was a sacrifice and a decision of no small proportions.  56,000 French resistance fighters were sent to concentration camps and less than half returned.

What was jerry wagners fine President Obama doing on that day whilst others were remembering and commemorating those sacrifices.  He was having yet another glamor filled and star studded evening.  As the gulf shores and animals suffer from the horrible effects of the BP "spill", as American's tighten their belts with ever increasing food prices and unemployment gone wild, the president evades things that need honoring like Memorial Day, D Day, etc. and spends our money to entertain the rich and famous.

It's all very sad really, don't you think? ....Warph

I think it is sad that our president is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.  Don't you think it is time to lay off him?  Notice that I said PRESIDENT.  I am talking about the president of the United States of America who was elected by the majority of voters, be they right or be they wrong.  He is still our president and deserves the respect of that office.  Or are we now disrespecting the highest office in our land like the small countries that we criticize for their anti-government activities?

First of all wilma, he was not elected by the majority of the people.  Presidents do not get elected like that.  He won enough electoral votes.

Second of all, I do not respect him at all or for what he stands for.  He is a socialist/communist, and is not anyone i could possibly respect.  He is anti christian as displayed by his actions, and he is trying to destroy the wealth of this nation.

Third of all, i do respect the office of the president, but the person holding that office is not the office of the presidency.  Obama is a usurper, and fast becoming a traitor because he refuses to do his job. It is not his job to regulate and control business.   IT IS his job to secure the border and stop illegals from coming in.  He has abdicated that primary responsibility and is there for worthy of nothing but contempt for his refusal to do his job in this, for his committing crimes by bribing senatorial candidates, among other things.

And NO i will not ease up on anyone that so boldly pisses on the constitution and this country.   I also extend my contempt to every senator and representative that does the same thing.

Uh, not that it matters, but Pres. Obama won the popular vote in 28 states, that is more than half, so that was a simple majority. Am I wrong? It was Pres. Bush who did not win the majority popular vote, but won the electoral vote and took his second term.

Shhhhhh! Diane! Nobody is supposed to know that!

Steve.....his JOB is to sit in an office as a figurehead and take the glory or the guff from the things CONGRESS does!

He SHOULD pay respect to the fallen on days like Memorial Day and D-day, Pearl Harbor Day etc. Fact of the matter is when the biggest share of the soldiers who fought in any given war or conflict start dying off from natural or other causes people start forgetting about said war or conflict unless they were directly affected by it in some way. People remember the Wars intellectually but not the soldiers...and that is the SADDEST fact of them all.

So.... WTF says that he has to be at Annapolis on Memorial Day?  He was at Lincoln National cemetery.... Jesus Christ what the hell prompts everybody here to believe that somebody cannot do something different than what others have done.
