Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History !

Just so you know, this is a real threat if it is using the materials he was saying.
the reaction is the same one that you get when you make soap.  It turns the water to around 230 deg or thereabouts, and also will create hydrogen gas.  The gas pressure will build up in the bottle until the heat from the reaction softens the plastic and it explodes sending boiling liquid everywhere.  IF you are a smoker, and are smoking a cigarette at that time, it will ignite and cause a massive fireball.

The bottle will remain dormant because the tinfoil is not in the liquid.  but as soon as the liquid gets on the foil, it starts dissolving and creating the heat and gas.

What in the world were those two dunces trying to prove?  >:(  They already knew what it would do! You do a demo like that in a Nomex coat, gloves and safety glasses! (We've had those bottle bombs around here too for some time.)They should have their butts kicked!!!! Some go off much quicker than that and they couldn't have gotten out of the way in time. Some are made with other ingredients and don't go off as big, others will tear a mailbox to shreds and create some wild shrapnel. Do be careful. Often it's the kids making them that get hurt.

well maybe they will and it will put a end to it.  I would say Darwins law will take care of that end of the gene pool.

I work with things like sodium hydroxice, potassium hyrdoxide, for a few different things.  One of which is making soap, another is to try and produce hydrogen fuel.  I know that the hydrogen fuel will produce over 100 psi pressure in the tank.  And you can reclaim all the aluminum once it is inactive.

Its a shame that kids today cannot put their newfound knowlege to good use like i did when i learned about chemical reactions when i was their age.  We did all kinds of kool stuff with it but never had the lamebrain idea to harm someone.
