Nullifying Tyranny
by Dr. Thomas J. DiLorenzo
Politicians know that people who rely upon themselves and their local community have very little need for a powerful political leader, government bureaucrats, and legions of regulators . . ."

I disagree, but don't have time now to have a long opinion. Just remember, if you don't like politicians, you elected them. You think our society is immoral?..you just insulted your own parents, grandparents, children and grandchildren. Our society, a republic, by the way, has some immoral people in it, hardly the same thing. Nullifying Tyranny? Then you have to agree that it exists and I do not agree. There are people who want tyranny because they would benefit from it, but to make a general statement, I disagree.  I'll add more later.

OK, part two.  I'm not sure what the author is driving at in this article. It bounces around into so many different subjects it's hard to follow and aside from asking Christians accept his interpretations in certain areas of the Bible, I'm not quite sure what he wants. Calling Gov't essentially a criminal enterprise is ridiculous. I'm sure calling taxes robbery is popuar, but where does the money come from to do the things that these same people are demanding? Plug the oil leak...the Feds should do it. Round up the illegals...and then what? It costs money to house, them feed them, and take them back home. Stop American guns from getting into Mexico. Cha Ching...spend more tax dollars. Fight a few wars and keep an eye on North Korea. More money. Some things are bound by treaties and trade agreements. It's not as simple as the writers seem to think. In the meantime, today was nice. The store shelves were still full, everybody is getting ready for cook outs and flag flying and the world still turns.

Thats one of the problems, as longa s the beer supply, sport of the season is on and uninterrupted, no one will get off their arse to do anything these days about government.
Out of your examples diane, only one is a valid government expense. thats securing the border.

Diane, it's no surprise that you don't agree with DiLorenzo.
Why would a liberal or socialist understand it or agree with it?
At least you read it.

Shame, shame Red...labels again...that all you've got? Of course I read it. I don't read only those I know ahead of time I'll agree with. I'm always interested in all points of view. Not happy with the ones based on lies, incomplete information and the old half brick, but I'll read it just the same. I didn't understand it, that's all. Explain it to me. By the way, I'm changing my party affiliation to the "Coffee Party." We look for common ground(s).
Steve, if securing the borders is the only proper Gov't expense of those I mentioned...(and some I don't necessarily agree with either,)why are people so up in arms that the President just yesterday went to check on the oil spill thing personally? It wasn't necessary! Do you know what that cost? He can check in by phone, and all the other ways of communication they have. It inconveniences the locals and causes the interruption of what ever is going on. I had personal experience with that when President Reagan visited Leon Wilkinson's 5300 acre dairy farm, the next farm down the road from us, many years ago.   1983? The long lines people were in several days before, the FBI interviewed all the neighbors, and many local roads were closed. It was neat though to see the helicopters fly up the valley just south of us, just skimming the tree tops to land in Leon's Guernsey pasture. My parents were invited and went. I stayed at their house and directed traffic.

Ted and I got caught up in one of those presidential visit messes in Kansas City a few years back. President Bush was going to speak at the Sprint center (I think), and they had traffic stalled on I35 both directions. Now it doesn't take much of a stall to cause a huge jam there, but when all lanes are stopped in both directions it takes a long while to get it untangled. We like to never got out of there!  :P :P

I hear that! When Pres. O came here for Joe Biden's mom's funeral we had the same.

I dont' disagree, i think it is a absolute waste of taxpayers money.  He was there for a photo op.  Thats it.  He had no ability whatsoever to affect the outcome of teh topkill proceedure which failed.
He needs to stay his butt back in washington and do his job.  But then again, maybe it is a good idea that hes in chicago, if he's not in washington and congress isn't in washington, then they can't pass these dangerous and reckless laws.
