Seems like Uberti at one time advertised slings for their Henry's,are no more, but any anyways I have a pair of 1""sling swivels and thinking I could hit up The Leather Factory/Tandy for a 1" strip of lighter than belt leather 60" with several keepers and boston screws. Would like to see some pic's of slings for Henry's and if ya actually use them?

I have made many period correct Henry slings.
1" will work.. I make mine 1 1/8 " at one end
is loop(like a belt keeper) it is snug fit (tight to slide) at
the other end is a brass flat hook (to attach to the barrel staple)
They are that simple...

Dixie Gun Works sells them ready made with the hardware.  VTI should have the rifle hardware to make it authentic.  I bought the sling swivel and staple and had my gunsmith put it on my Henry.
Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.

thanks fer the info. have use it to make the sling and will post some pic's soon. Ended up using stuff aready on hand, a 1"X 50" belt blank, and leather shoestring to lace up the end loops.

Looks like Dixie Gun Works does not have the Henry sling, at least in their on line catalog.  I would like to buy one from somewhere.

Panhandle Slim

You can try Dell's Leather Works.  That's where I got mine.

Good quality, decently priced.

Here is the other type they carry:

I ordered that one, and have been very happy with it.

I thought I saw one last time I looked for one.  It appears to be back in stock at Dixie.  AL0503 Henry Rifle Sling $44.95.  I'd find it more fun to make one.

The only thing I dislike about the repro slings is that most original slings seem to have used used a BRASS hook to latch onto the barrel and the repros use steel. I have looked in vain for a brass hook.

PJ Hardtack

I use a 1" x-strap from an RCMP Sam Browne. Easy to find at Canuck gun shows. Found a brass hook at a fabric shop.

I've made mine ... 1/8" Brass rod....hammered the flat on an anvil, drill two holes for  # 9  Rivets

rounded the end , then bent the hook loop
punch a hole in the leather push the hook through an rivet the 3 (fold & hook flat) together
I use three stitches per side to hold the edges down,

Jarnagins makes one of the nicest repro Henry slings.

It's sort of hard to find in their catalog.  Look under "Civil War: Federal" then look for the link that says "Musket and Carbine Slings"

I have one of their slings on my Trapdoor rifle and it is very high quality with appropriate period markings.
