Two Flints

Hello,

Can you help me with information, Please!

Met a fellow today who went into his closet and pulled out an 1878 Springfield serial number 352XXX, nice condition, not abused, asked me if I was interested in it? It belonged to his recently passed away dad.

Any thoughts?

Two Flints,

I am thinking that your are refering to a "trapdoor" springfield.  Try Trapdoor collectors.

St. George

It's a Model 1884 Trapdoor - with the Buffington rear sight.

The serial number would indicate production in the first quarter of 1887.

Without seeing it - there's little more that I can assist with.
