Arkansas Man Wins Eighth-Straight Cluck-Off
Tuesday July 11, 2006 4:53pm

Wayne, Nebraska (AP) - Being in the spotlight doesn't put Del Hampton in a "fowl" mood. That's good, because the Arkansas man will surely be receiving more attention after being named champion this weekend in the National Cluck-Off competition during Wayne Chicken Days.

The 26th annual event featured all things related to chickens. The highlight of the event is the National Cluck-Off competition, which Hampton has now won the past eight years. Hampton is from Fort Smith.

After winning the title in the past, Hampton says he has been featured on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and several radio shows around the country. For Hampton, the act comes naturally. He says, "My dream when I was a kid was to do cartoon voices. It all kind of goes back to that."
