Pards and pardettes had a blast with my 1887 lever gun this past weekend.

The two shot feeding mech works great when I do my part.

I had the gun slicked by a local gunsmith who shoots an original.

I am hooked

Will have to run some smokey loads through her soon!!

There is a screw on the left side of the reciever that the lever rotates on . Keep checking it , Its not a  problem , just give it a snug before you shoot, like a marlin..  Looked down in my gun cart and there was a screw awhile back , Lucky it ended up there , I check it now and it is loose ocasionally . But I sure enjoy shootin it. Have fun .

Good tip Sweettooth!

I tried one on Sat. and am hooked (now Ive gotta sell a '97 ;D).  Actually have an 87 on layaway at my local toy store.  The one that I tried and the one on layaway both need a little slicking on the face of the follower and the maing surface on the lifter, but other than that worked just like the orriginal that a pard brought.

sweet tooth my pard had taken care of that screw for me.

Shot the 1887 again this weekend - I believe that Great gand daddie's 1897 16 guage will finally get that long needed rest - it so deserves!!

I love my 1887 - pards today were wondering how i shot it so fast with second round being levered so quick!!:)

Put a smile very wide permanently on my face!!

Chance

Can anyone give me an address or contact details for IAC?

I need to get hold of Mike at coyote caps and have him send me a couple of those screws . I bet there is more than one lonsome cowpoke out there that wasnt lucky enough to have it fall in his gun cart. I'm not sure if I should locktite it or not. Not being the particularly lucky type I better have at least 2 on hand.. Glad everyone is enjoying there 87s. Although jumping up to a 90 second stage when I mess up feeding it isnt any fun. But at least now Ive got company. More are appearing all the time..
When I do mess up I have to remind myself why I am doing this. Just for fun . And opentops and lever shotguns are a lot more fun at least to me. Anybody tried firing from the hip like the rifleman.

I haven't tried firing from hip but will see how it handles brass BP shells next weekend.

Going to try them in both my double gun and the lever gun - more to clean - but want to see if load setup is good for both.

Howdy , just wonderin what's the two shot kit you all are talkin about?
keep yur powder dry.

Howdy Pards and Pardettes.

Ramrod, Pard the twoshot feed system is an system that allows you to stuff two rounds into the breach at once.  One goes onto the carrier and one will slide into the breach when the action is closed. It allows the '87 to be loaded with two rounds quicker than a '97, almost like a double.

I hope this helps.

1887 and brass shells - my magtech shotshells with APP worked great with the 87; however, the ends were not roll crimped enough to allow them to feed into the tube.

Therefore they had to be single loaded.

The fun factor far outweighed that minor issue and I am not fast anyway.
