Got a letter today from the Marshall County Izaak Walton chapter that the shooting ranges are closed, till further notice, due to "safety concerns".  I'm there at least 2 days a week, so now I'll be looking for a new place.  I only joined to use the range.  Neihbors have been complaining, don't know if they're valid, I do see some evidence of slob shooters.  Good thing I know lots of people who farm or own acreages.  Seems like everytime I find a good place to shoot, they go out of business within a year.

44caliberkid,
I know a great range that you can shoot at most any time.

Kayleen,

I'd like to know the location of this range too.  I have a hard time finding a good safe place to practice.

Here at Prairie Fire Range, @ Ackley. We now have our own insurance to cover for the range. Give me a call and I can give you the details.

And a fine range it is.  It's just that the Ikes was only 10 minutes away and I could run over there and test a load or see how a gun was printing and not spend half the day doin' it.  And now with the gas prices, gonna have to start lookin' critically at travelin'.

Yo,  Kid!  I assume are speaking of Marshall County, Ia and if so, where is that range located? I Pastored in M'town for 12 years and don't remember the Ikes having a shooting range. I used to shoot out my back yard while living on the Green Mountain road just about 3/4 mile north of E. Main St. Probably so crowded with houses by now that you couldn't even spit into wind without hitting somebody. Left the area in "88" and haven't had a chance to get back since. Oh well,  weather here in SW MO is much nicer anyway.

God Bless and shoot safe

44CK, Check out the Iowa River Gun Club. They have an indoor range in M'town, plus an agreement with the Marshall Co. Sheriff to use thier outdoor range. At least I think they have that agreement. Tama Co. has a public range just off Hwy. 30 west of Toledo, but some of the other users there could be alittle shakey. Of course you're always welcome here at Pine Hollow a few miles south of Tama. Contact me and I'll give you directions. This offer goes for any other NCOWS members in the area or passing thru. See Ya. Al.
