Mystery Rider,

Thank for your response and comments.

In the end, I believe we do look to the smaller details of design and appearance and yes function.  What we do in most cases or several is look past the cartridge availability. Right now pistol cartridge for main match rifles are the norm.  Larger bores for side matches.  There are exceptions to this also (Spencer case by case).

I will state just for clarification as you have already determined, the fact that the Henry Big Boy has a brass frame does not in itself qualify it as an 1860 Win Henry copy.  Not trying to be funny by that statement just helping for the next time.

Bottom line is with all the Uberti repros of original Win, we take them for granted as authentic and only.  The Spencer repro follows most of the original design functions.  The Marlin 94 is for the most part unchanged since it beginning(safety is the exception).  And above all any original.

Please still look at NCOWS.  Read the By-Laws from the website with these new and different perspectives.  Sorry, that in the end the person who total you (Yes) was only basing it on SASS.  We are different even if it appears only slightly different sometimes.

I was actually refering to the 1866 (Front Stock) where as the 1860 does not have front stock.  A mute point anyway.  I really appreciate your comments, and should a NCOWS club/posse organize in my area, I will most likely look into it.

Thank you for the information. When I purchased the rifle earlier this year I had just heard that Winchester was going to move out of the U.S. and that the model '94 was no longer going to be in production along with the  model '70 rifle and a shotgun I believe is the model 300. Anyhow according to your recent posts my rifle is not NCOWS legal. But then I already knew that or at least suspected that your statement about my '94 was in error even though  :) :)there is no AE on my rifle's barrel. I do however believe that my model'94 is one of the last model '94's to be produced in the U.S. of A. Again I thank you for the information it is truly apprciated. :)

There is a simple test you could do....Eject a cartridge.  If the cartridge goes to the right, it's an angle eject.  If it goes straight up, you are good to go.  Also, an AE has a groove cut into the right side of the slide....

As far as I know all made after the middle 1980's or so are Angle Eject.  They used up in stock recivers for the cheap Ranger models with the birch wood stocks some time after USRA took over.

One thing I want folks to understand, jist because yer guns ain't kosher, don't mean we don't want you to join NCOWS! We DO want you to join! Heck Fire Pards, you can join NCOWS without ever owning a gun at all and we'uns will be thrilled to death to have ya as part of the outfit! ;D Adn as noted above, if ya show up at a match that I'm at and need a gun, or four, I set ya up with yer choice of fourty fives or thirty eights!!!!! I've done it afortimes and I'll do again! Ain't never regretted it!

Mystery Ride,

Yes I realized that after rethinking over my reply.  But as you can tell I could not get back to make the correction.

The 1866 would be a more logical comparison.  I have a Uberti 1866 myself.  Why I did not include it in the previous posting is beyond me.

Anyway please continue reading the posting here and take Cuts Crooked comments and possibly rethink your evaluation of NCOWS.

Thanks
Black River Smith
