I was wondering what it takes to be a member of the GAF?  I have a calavary style hat. i have a dark blue bib shirt, Light blue trousers, and knee high boots, the boots have the mule ears on them. But my guns are Rugers and I have dual holsters. My rifles are a '66 in .38 and I have a '92 in .45 o' and I for got white suspenders. I don't think we have any units here in fla. where I live.

Good Afternoon, Bitterwheat;

First and foremost, it takes a desire to join GAF; no uniforms are required.  (Uniforms are nice, and desirable, but not required) What you have already is a good start; it's up to you to decide whether or not to acquire additional items of uniform to flesh out your impression.  (Most of us in GAF do...)

You can find some basic information at http://www.grandarmyofthefrontier.org, including organizational charts, military uniform specifications from the Victorian era, etc.

Being in Florida, you are in the "Department of the Atlantic", Colonel Bull Schmidt commanding.  You might want to send him a PM introducing yourself (if he doesn't see your post first), and have a brief chat with him to discuss the GAF in general and any role you would like to play in particular.

I have the honor to remain,

Your Obedient Servant,

Bitterwheat,

Captain Thorne pretty much summed up what we are about and where to find a little more information.

Send me a PM with your name and address and I'll add you to the roster.

I was wondering if I have been talemn in the GAF as a member yet. i sent an e-mail to U.S.Scout with my info. But haven't heard any thing as of yet

US Scout

Buckwheat,

You're not going to see anything on the website as we can't update it until Capt Barrett releases control of it.

I received your information and you are now enlisted in the GAF.

Seems I have gotten myself a bit confused.  ??? :-[

Buckshot and Bitterwheat-

You are both enrolled in the GAF.

As before the website is out of date and we're working on getting it up to speed.  So, don't sweat the lack of acknowledgement on the website.  I'm maintaining the roster and you're on it.  I still have to fill in some gaps to figure out who enlisted earlier without getting on the roster, so I haven't assigned any new numbers yet.
