I just got me a Remington Revolving carbine and I am putting together some patterns for a carrying rig for it.  If any of you have some ideas about how you would like to carry that carbine let me know

Hey, Hey, Hey, no whispering there toss them Ideas out there for all of us to hear.  I think that a holster pouch that straps onto the stock like the origionals would be cool.  The holster could be built onto the front face of the harness for the stock.  The carrying straps, loops, or hooks would be attached to the back of harness.  Ok next.

Rats! Nicked. :D

I was suggesting to him that he make something like one of the shoulder straps like the cavalry had that would clip on the saddle ring and suspend it so the muzzle was just above the ground when standing. The nature of the revolving carbine would probably require a lace-on strap or butt cover to have it hang muzzle down.

I see exactly what Marshal is talking about.  Very much like the carrying/shoulder strap that the Cavalry used from the Civil War and into the Indian Wars for the Spencer & Sharps rifles.

A simple (or elaborate as you want to make it)  strap with a clip or "D" ring around the wrist of the Remy rifle stock could clip to the shoulder strap.

I'd be in for one- I was wondering about a carrying rig for my Remington Carbine.

You could even put some bullet loops in the shoulder strap, as an option.  I plan on getting an R&D conversion cylinder in .45 Long Colt for mine in the near future...

Just a thought,

It should have some loops.  Good thought John. I put an R&D cylinder in mine. What a shooter.  You'll love it.  thanks for the reply John

Greetings Pards and Pardettes.

Trig, Pard the system would be kinda like the Mauser, Luger, and Browning machine pistol stocks, except that the stock isn't hollowed out for a holster.  It uses a harness to hold the stock and the holster pouch is attached to the face of the harness.  Of course it doesn't  have to be a harness you can have two holsters back to back for the stock and the gun.  I would imagin that the rig would have a shoulderstrap and a waist belt.  it would hold the rig in a seperated condition.  I am sure I have seen one, but it might have been a Hollywood creation.

The Marshal has a good idea for carrying it fixed, with the carbine sling and swivel.  I can only say that you will have many good ideas and don't stop at one you may want one of each.

That is all I think I know.

Cannon Fodder

I dont have a remmie carbine( yet!). I do have  a pietta colt 1851 navy (in 44!?)  carbine that I have tried to carry in a "gun bucket" on a carbine sling. The carbine appears to be well supported but I havent figured out how to support the butt stock.

Couple werds...  Fer whut they're werth.........

Ain't got a Remington carbine.  Do have a 'Buntline' wit a detachable stock 'n one without.

The one without I carry from time ta time in a cross draw.  One the places I play has this real nice l'il wagon they use fer a prop.  Nicely done l'il thing.  We was shootin' one day 'n I was usin' the one without the stock.  Stuck it back in the cross draw when I was done with it.  Started movin' to another position ta get my shotgun 'n that l'il wagon was followin' along.

Well, sirs.  Seems when I stuck the Buntline back in the holster, the muzzle got all hung up in the wagon.

When yer makin' the final decisions, might wanna consider where things could wind up when ya get inna hurry..............

Well, not a holster, but an option

That looks nice, Mo. Good job. The fringe and beadwork really accent it beautifully.

Carbine Buckette, Carbine Sling (most ranges have a major prbolem w/ this method), then there the ever popular Saddle Scabbard.
As they are a Saddle Gun, nothing really is available for carrying 1 on the body.
