What Have I Done?

A big hello to my new pards.  I'm a novice when it comes to the Remmie 1858/1860.  I recently bought a real nice Cimmaron/Uberti .44 and last night I decided to take it apart.  Upon reassembly, I find that I can half-cock it, but there is no distinct click, I just have to sort of feel the place where the bolt is down.  I can't remember if, like a Colt, there is a distinct half-cock notch.  Have I put it back together wrong?  Please take pity on a new guy.

I've never had that happen so i don't know what happened. Start out by taking the trigger guard off and check to see if the bolt & trigger spring is installed properly. There is a long arm and a shorter arm. without going and looking I can't remember which goes where but one contacts the trigger and the other arm pushes the bolt. Maybe it's upside down. It's flat and held by a flat headed fat screw at the forward end of the frame under the trigger guard. Also check the hand & spring. If the spring is weak it could prevent the cylinder from turning properly.

sounds like the bolt /trigger spring is upside down .. easy mistake if you haven`t been in one much ... the arch is suppose to be up with the pistol upside down ... has happened to all of us ..

The other thing to check (I did this my first time putting one back together), make sure the longer arm of the spring is on top of the little notch above the trigger.  If you let the trigger fall backwards during the install of the spring it will not rest on top of that notch like it should.
