Colt cylinder pin?

Hey all,

I just got a Colt cylinder pin from the Virginia Gentleman (Thx sir) to replace the long pin on my UBerti Cattleman. It works just fine. My question is what is the difference between the two other than the new pin is shorter and looks like the 1873 Colt? Thx ahead of time.

The longer pin is the OEM safety
the short pin replaces`and defeats the safety and is more historically correct for the SSA copies
