I'm not sure when the NCOWS website will be updated with the entry, but you can access the Hooten website for the announcement, entry, and other information.   www.hootenoldtown.com

French Jack,

Thanks for posting the link.  I'm really looking forward to seeing eastern KY [that's Kentucky ;D].  The pictures and reports from the Eastern Regional make me think that it is a great place to hold the Nationals!

Money is tight this year.  Won't be able to make it.  Hopefully next year.  I'll be lucky if I can attend the GAF Muster this year and that's only on the other side of the state from me.  Been wanting to do that for a couple of years now.  It may have moved, but still about the same distance from me.  If I could, I'd attend all the shoots no matter how big or small.  I love meeting everybody and I love shooting.

I made this topic a "Sticky" so it will remain near the top.  As the year progresses people will want to access the information.

OO,
So what would make it doable for you to make it to GAF? I bet I can find a place for you to hang your hat for a minimum amount of money. Remember the banquet and 4 meals
(2 breakfasts & 2 lunches are included in the fee. All coffee, ice/hot tea, lemonade. and cider are always free out on Prairie Fire Range.

I'm looking forward to the Nationals this year, while I always like any time I can get one foot further west than MI, I will appreciate not having to make the drive around that continuous road construction project known as Chicago. Not a bit worried about being a yankee and going south as I have been there before and am bilinguil - I can understand and speak some southern.

I have heard a lot of good things about Hooten.  It should be a perfect place for this event.

Thanks for the invite Dr Bob.  I was actually looking at the NCOWS website yesterday and thinking about joining.  I think that Hooten is about 8 hours from us.  I know that some people from here go there for the KY State championship.  When is the NCOWS national shoot?  I don't see the date here.

And what is a "Pink"?  :o

Y'all are awful sweet to invite me but it looks as though, due to the timing I'm going to have to pass on this one.  I'll still be recovering from Mule Camp!

Y'all be sure to take lots of pictures though and if you con't find any other places to post them I'll be glad to provide room on my site. :)

On the registration form, camping fees are cited.
Are those per-day or a total for the event?

Perhaps I don't understand how the shooting portion will be organized...but....I'm curious how the posse(s) will decide whether to shoot 6 stages on Thursday or Saturday, unless we were to indicate on the registration form?? Personally, It won't matter to me as I'll arrive as early as possible (or allowed) during the week.

I hope there are some range areas we can use during the week for plinking, including some long-range prior to or between  ;D

Slim,
the fees quoted are for the event.  The match will consist of 10 stages, 4 of which may be shot on Thursday afternoon or on Saturday.  The remaining 6 stages will be shot on Friday.  This gives us some flexibility in scheduling shooters who may have a conflict with travel time or something.  We will also arrange for entrants to shoot through ( all 10 Stages ) on Friday with prior arrangements.
Wednesday will be the long range shooting, all day long.  Practice or plinking will have to be worked in around our work schedule setting everything up.
Hope this helps.

French jack, do they have any idea of a round count yet?  I hav to start loading my ammunition and I hate loading black powder so I don't want to do any more than I have to. ;)

Round count for the main match would be 110 pistol, 110 rifle, a box of shotshells, and a pocket pistol with 4 rounds.  If you plan on Working Cowboy or Originals, the round count would be 55 pistol, 110 rifle.   Side matches will require extra ammo, and there is a variety of side matches, from cowboy trap to poker shoots.  There will also be a T-Rex match for "manly loads".

I just mailed my entry form & fee.

I've got ammo loaded for myself and Dr. Bob. (May load a few more just in case.)

The KVC contingent should arrive the evening of the 11th.  There should be 6 of us altogether.

I'm starting to get excited!
