Do post photos.  I'm a 16ga shooter myself.  On my rack there's a 10ga, 12ga, 16ga and a 20ga SxS.  Of all of 'em the 16ga is my "go to" gun.  The 20ga is a death ray and the 12ga is a hall sweeper.  The mighty 10ga is for those low testostrone days when the poppers just won't go down.

FWIW, the 16ga is the best balance of power, handling and recoil.  Enjoy the 97!!

Almost the only shotgun gauge I shoot is 16. Use them for WAS, trap, sporting clays, ducks, quail, geese, grouse, etc.

I do have some nice 12s but they mostly get left home.

How about an original Remington rolling block brought back from the junk pile by the skilled hands of Jerry Wakkinen, master riflesmith?  A Green Mountain barrel chambered in 45-70, Lee Shaver long range sight, stock of crotch cut full figure walnut and German silver end cap and curved butt plate.  That might be some common ground.

One of prized possesions used to be my Grandpa's 16 ga LC Smith side by side...then about a dozen years ago, some SOB got into the house and decided he wanted it more than me...not just the Smith, but all of Grandpa's other guns too...(and he had some nice ones...) But don't believe what some of the 12 ga shooters tell you...the 16 will do just about anything a 12 will do...not sure about this new-fangled steel shot stuff though...but quail and rabbits will just flat surrender when you walk up with a 16.

Bought a Browning sweet 16 a few years back from a friend in need , i have a cabinet full of 12 `s and i thought the 16 might be just the ticket for the fall dove hunts here .. so i lit out 4 boxes of shells in hand .. i should have took a pain pill too ... i couldn`t beleive how this sweet looking  16ga was kickin my butt ..by the 4th box , it was bring `in tears of pain to me eyes ..all i could think of was MR Browning built this thing  for a 16 year olds birthday !!! i don`t own a 12 that kicks that hard ! maybe if the Browning would have been a gas opt. or a pump it wouldn`t have kicked so hard ... but guns gone to another home now just a memory for me !

It is classed as a sec.1 firearm which means that...

1. You have to hold a current FAC

2. You have to have good reason for wanting it (Having an FAC itself aint enough ).

3. You have to belong to a Police recognised club that have official shoots using THAT WEAPON!
