Thought i`d drop a post for the new shooters to the remmie world , The wife loves to shoot .. but always complained her remmie just didn`t feel right for her , something she wasn`t sure how to explain but just said mybe a little heavy , little bulky ... try as she might , always shooting 6 inches high and 6 inches to the left ... i have 4 Pietta remmies 44cal and 1 ASM remmie 44cal  the ASM is a smaller frame , and caught the wife fondleing it saying now this feels right ! hey this is my shoulder hoster piece , with drop in conversion .. no way . soooo with a little thought a little cutting some sanding and drimel work .. i trimmed an inch and a half off the 8 inch barrel  added a dovetail front sight for windage adjustment ( the Piettas don`t come with the dovetail sight , Ubertis do ) sanded the grip sides down and shaped them to fit her smaller hand , when i finished she put the gun in hand and said wow what did you do this feels like a different gun ! ok so lets go out and see how she shoots ! i could hardly beleive my eyes with a little adjusting on the front sight.. 5 shots all in the 3inch bull , 3 shots touching each other ! now she wants to shoot her new remmie every weekend ! ( so i sit and load cylinders while she shoots ! )  i know i could have bought her a 36 cal remmie with smaller frame ...but when one has 4 cylinders that fit one gun and i cast my balls .. and hey i have enought problems keeping all the different sizes apart i really didn`t need to add another cal. to my round ball collection . so before you put one in the back of the gun cabinet never to see the light of day ... give it some thought , there are things one can do to make a shooter out of all of them .

I went through a similar experience two years ago with a new lady shooter. The guns were Rugers with 4 5/8 and 5 1/2 inch barrels.

The two things that really helped that new shooter -- totally new to handguns -- was getting a nice crisp trigger pull that she could control and getting the grips shaped to fit her hands.

This past calender year I had to do the same thing for myself because I was forced to switch to shooting revolvers one-handed, left-handed. Same result, getting trigger pull I could control and getting the grip shaped to fit my hand properly.

I had not shot handguns seriously one handed since my early 20s, when all sorts of body parts worked much, much better. The importance of properly fitting handgun grips had never really sank in, although it had been SOP for shotguns and hunting rifles all my life.

In my/our case, the fitting of both trigger pulls and grips was a lengthy trial and error process, including several WAS monthly shoots.
