new to the sport and gunsmith is at shot show help.  Navy arms gunfighter .357  while shooting missed some strikes and checking gun saw that the pin holding the cylinder rod in was missing , Probably cant get anything from navy arms but cimarron is just down the road
is this something I can replace myself  if the cimarron parts fit. I am hoping a uberti is a uberti. cimarron diagram lists both pre war and another model how can I tell the difference. It had a spring in it I think
All help will be appreciated. Sweettooth

Howdy, Sweetooth!

If Cimmaron (sp?)  is close, call them ahead of time and take your gun with you.  As far as I can tell, yes:  an Uberti is an Uberti.  You'll be able to tell on the spot.

Now if you called ahead and Cim. didn't WANT any part of a Navy Arms firearm to come thru their door; which I doubt; you can always call Brownells.  A company that I forget their exact name, but it includes "Mountain" in the name, sells replacement base pins which are oversized to take out some of the typical slop that develops with age.  B'nells also could probably sell you a "Navy Arms" replacement pin, or talk it over with one of their techs who will guide you where you need to be.  By the way, do you have a micrometer or a good caliper or a FRIEND who has these tools?  They will help immensly when talking to the tech.

Without knowing any more about the gun, I'll wager that it's a copy of a 2nd Generation Colt which I believe  is considered pre war. (WWII)  Also, if you phone Brownells, be sure to tell them that you're new at this game and ask them "how much is your catalog?"  They may say $5 or thereabouts, but they MAY send you one free.  That's how I got my first Brownells catalog.

Good luck and have fun.
