Thanks Marshall, that is the best picture I have ever seen of an artillery gin.  the lack of such a devise was detrimental to the British efforts at New Orleans in 1815.

About time we had some photos of the military in other nations being posted (to give Rattlesnake Jack some competition!).

I'm sure we'd also be interested in knowing what small arms the Spanish Army used between 1860 and 1900.

I hererby promote you to Brevet Lieutenant Colonel and the Commander of the Division of Spain.  Brevet Colonel and Captain John "Rattlesnake Jack" Robson is the Commander of the International Department, and I can see that you are following his example by posting some excellent photographs of your country's military.  Well done!

Bear with us while we get our website (and roster) back up to date.  I'm hoping Capt Barrett has provided Bull Schmidt the necessary guidance to get started on that particular project.

By the way, USS, I note that you have taken to referring to me as Brevet Colonel and Captain.
When I received my new Brevet rank with elevation to Command of the International Department, was there a corresponding reduction in my "actual" rank, of which I may not have been apprised?

Hey Spanish Marshal...I had the pleasure of training with the Spanish Legion at one time...but don't know much about them...What are they all about?

  Sir:
The Spanish Legión is now a Light Infantry Brigade. With the Spanish Airmobile Brigade and my Brigade, the 3 Brigades are the Spanish rapid deploymen division RDD. The Legión is in Almeria. In these barracks are the HQ, one "Tercio", Spanish Legion unit similar to Regiment, Artillery Group, Anti tank Coy, Sappers Unit  and Support, (logistic), Group. In Ronda, other very old Spanish city are other Tercio , and in Ceuta and Melilla, Spanish Cities in North Africa, are two Tercios.

If I recall correctly, they were composed of both Spanish and Non-Spanish soldiers....So they are not like the French Forgien Legion as in they only take forgieners....correct?  They were also still using German WW2 MG 42's.  Are these Machine Guns still in service?  Did this unit see action in Iraq?  They were a good bunch of soldiers and they obviously left me with a very favorable impression....

Your English is far better than my Spanish, so you need make no apologies.  I'm sure is there is any confusion you'll be asked to explain, but so far you're doing great!

Actually, all the soldiers must are spanish, but with the new law, in our units there are also foreign soldiers, but only of South America, (this is by the language). For example, in my Unit (Para Bde.) we have Ecuadereans, Colombians, Dominicans and some Peruvians. I think that in the Legion is the same. Other foreign people are the people of Ecuatorial Guinea, because this nation was a former spanish colony in Africa.
