I dont clean the inside of my cases and was wondering if BP fired cases will corode my dies? Is there any thing different to consider when reloading BP brass?

Been loading Pyrodex and BP since 92.  I always dunk the used brass in a container of water and dish soap right after a stage.  I take'em home and give it a good agitating, rinse, air dry and throw them in a tumbler for a couple'a 4 hours or so.  Never had any problems with corroded dies.  If you're not dunking your used brass, might I suggest you start?  The water and soap help to break down and dissolve the fouling that will start rusting your dies if you don't clean your brass first.  Others may chime in with their own recipes for a brass "bath".  The few will claim their's will work the best.  :D  IMHO, they all work.   ;)

If you're already doing this, no worries then.  :)

Probably the most profound sentence I've ever seen here.

Howdy Galloway,

At the match, I dump my fired brass in a wide mouth jug that has some water with dish washing detergent.  I shake the jug from time to time.

After the match, I rinse the brass and tumble it sparkling clean inside and out with my Ceramic Porcelain tumbling media.

When I reload my ammo looks and functions like new.

Howdy, Galloway!

My way is best.  ::) ;) Seriously, did you notice the common ground in all these posts?  Water.  As long as you soak 'em for a while, they'll NOT corrode your cases.  I tried the "immediately dunk" method, but it didn't seem to make a difference with my cases.  Perhaps that's because I started firing the cases with smokey-less powder, THEN swiched over to the good stuff.  So, my cases were already dirty inside.  Now, I just put 'em in a soap & water solution when I get back home - then I tumble 'em.

All in the course of good hygiene.........

Listerine rinse before and after brushin'.  You'll run out 'fore long.  Put the empty bottle in the shower.  In the shower, when yer bar ah soap gets to small to use, put it in the bottle.  Mornin' of a shoot fill the bottle 'bout half full ah hot water.  There's yer spent brass jug.

Ya get home, pour the water out.  Poke a couple holes in the bottom of the bottle 'n cut the top part of the bottle off.  Run hot tap water thru the brass until it runs clear.   Leave the brass ta dry.  When ya get a round tuit tumble the stuff.

This could be bad.  If more folks find out how easy this is, more will get into it and the price of powder will go up.
