Oregon Bill

Sent in muh bank draft and application Jan. 3. They still ain't cashed the draft. Do mean to be impatient. It's wet here and I've got cabin fever.

Bill:

Don't blame you, it's that time of year.

Anyway, it usually takes a few weeks as the office staff is all volunteer and gets to stuff as soon as they can. Look at it this way: It's the thrill of anticipation and the fact that the you'll have so much fun as an NCOWS member that you'll soon forget the brief delay in getting your stuff processed.  ;) ;D

Besides, if it don't come in a while, how's about we shoot somebody for you? I know that always makes me feel better.  ;)

Seems to take 4-6 weeks to get your Welcome packet these days, Oregon Bill.  Lone Gunman is in charge of that, and right now he's busier than a one-armed wallpaper hanger!

'Course, most all of us (and probably all the upper management, too) consider you a member as soon as they receive your application.

Let me be the first to welcome you to our great group!

Howdy,

Actually, Lone Gunman is only the Editor, and a Senator, of course.  He lives in Lincoln, NE.  The NCOWS office is still in Iowa.  I'm not sure, but I thing that Mr. Glenn takes care of membership from there.  Someone can correct me if I am wrong.  Mine, last March took 5 - 6 weeks.  Hang in there.

Bob is essentially right, except that I live in BeatRice NE, which is somewhat ironic since I attended Rice University when I lived in Houston & we were pretty much beaten by everyone.  :P   Drop me a PM  with your address & I'll forward you a bonus Nov/Dec issue to hold you over.

Not a bad offer from "a man of notoriously bad .. attributes!"

Hell-Er High Water

Howdy,

I sent my NCOWS application in yesterday by eMail and my payment by PayPal.  As I understand that it takes a while to process applications, is it it possible to get an advance copy the current "The Shootist" magazine that everyone is raving about the cover photo on.

Thanks, and I look forward to my pending membership.

Dr. Bob

Howdy HHW,

Welcome to NCOWS!!!  The benefits are well worth the short wait.  NCOWS operates with a volunteer staff, so it takes a bit.  I joined the same way that you just did.

To get a Shootist, pm Lone Gunman with your USPS address.  Despite his reputation, he will take care of you. ;D ;D

It's a handsome offer indeed. I PMed the L.G. myself, and cannot wait for reading material to arrive, as the cabin fever is burning me up.

Well done, Hell Er High Water and Bristow Kid. I think you'll be glad you joined up. This is a great bunch of folks and an organization founded on great principles.

If nothing else, your membership is a testimonial to your good taste.  ;)

Seriously, I know I'm proud to be a member and hope you all will be, too.

Look forward to meetin' and/or shootin' with you both sometime.

Sod Buster, howdy!

Yeah, you shoulda got a pin.  They (The originators of NCOWS) decided that since not everyone in the old West wore a badge, that they'd go with a period-correct lapel pin.  IM Mr. Lone Gunman if you didn't get a pin, he'll either get you one or put you in touch with whoever will.

By the way, if ya look in yer new copy of The Shootist  you'll see an advertisement for an NCOWS pin which looks just like scrimshawed ivory and men can use it as a watch fob and ladies can use it as a charm or necklace.  They look purty cool and I'm savin' my pennies fer one!

Howdy,

I got the membership package in just over two weeks.  I think that's outstanding service to process new applications.  I'm looking forward to what may become available, NCOWS wise, in Northern CA in the future.  I hope that more people out this way will get involved.  Thanks for the speedy turn around time.
